Event 1: $10,000 World Championship Pot Limit Hold'em Blog post
Winner: Nenad Medic Runner-up: Andy Bloch
The first event of this year's WSOP was a great start for the world series! The final table was filled with great poker players: Medic, Sexton, Antonius, Laak, Liebert and Bloch. Nenad Medic won it all after he beat Andy Bloch, who had been chipleader throughout most of the event.

Winner: Grant Hinkle Runner-up: James Akenhead
Event two had a huge turnout. It was the 4th biggest live poker event ever! Grant Hinkle's victory was the first step to make the Hinkle brothers record possible. Later during the WSOP, Grant's brother, Blair Hinkle, also won a bracelet and they set a new record. They are the first pair of siblings to win WSOP bracelets in the same year.
Event 3: $1,500 Pot Limit Hold'em Blog Post
Winner: David Singer Runner-up: Jacobo Fernandez
After being the cause of a discussion - he was the only one wanting a scheduled break when the tournament was delayed like hell. He barely got into the final table, but David Singer finally won the first bracelet of his career. And that was for sure a very well deserved bracelet when you think about all the great results he had achieved lately.
Event 4: $5,000 Mixed Hold'em Blog post
Winner: Erick Lindgren Runner-up: Justin Bonomo
This was one more great result for Erick Lindgren. He overcame a table filled with great players like Lederer, Roland De Wolfe and Justin Bonomo in order to win his first bracelet.
Event 5: $1,000 No Limit Hold'em + Rebuy Blog post
Winner: Michael Banducci Runner-up: Jeff Williams
Michael Banducci had seven money finishes and one final table in former World Series of Poker editions, but he was still waiting for a major cash until this day. In this event he knocked out Michael Binger and 2006 EPT Champion Jeff "yellowsub" Williams in order to win his first bracelet. After this win he finished in the money in two more events.
Event 6: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better Blog post
Winner: Thang Luu Runner-up: Spencer Lawrence
Bracelet winner Thang Luu was a former Las Vegas employee that finished 3rd at the employee-event of WSOP 2005. That time is in the past, and now he won his first bracelet after being the runner-up on one of the events last year.
Event 7: $2,000 No Limit Hold'em Blog post
Winner: Matt Keikoan Runner-up: Shannon Shorr
Matt Keikoan is said to be a very good cash game player. This was his first bracelet, but he already had some story with WSOP. He finished 63rd in last year's main event for his first major tournament prize.
Event 8: $10,000 Mixed Event World Championship Blog post
Winner: Anthony Rivera Runner-up: James "Mig" Mackey
In one of the toughest line-ups we've seen to date, we were pleased to see James "Mig" Mackey" proceed to the final table. A very tough final table to say the least (with players like Sam Farha, Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Eli Elezra, Jeff Madsen). Still Mig managed to get heads-up for his second bracelet, but it was not meant to be. In the first hand of the heads-up mig found himself in a bad situation, holding vs . His hand didn't improve, so the bracelet went to Anthony Rivera, who also played a very good tournament, and despite starting the final table as the 3rd smallest stack, climbed his way up to the top.
Event 9: $1,500 No Limit Hold'em 6 handed Blog post
Winner: Ralph "Rep" Porter Runner-up: Nathan Templeton
This was one of those tournaments the winner only had ups, no downs. Porter finished day one among the leaders and was the only one of those leaders to advance to the final table. There was no better winner for this event than him.
Event 10: $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi-Low-8 or Better Blog post
Winner: Farzad Rouhani Runner-up Tom Chambers
It was a dominant performance on the final day of event 10. Farzad started the day as chipleader and never left his position. After staying agressive during the whole day, and all he did was to increase his lead. He won the tournament and the bracelet with four of a kind.
That's it for week 1, we hope you've enjoyed reading the recap. In a few days we'll post the week 2 recap. In the meantime, we'll keep on posting our daily updates at the WSOP Blog found here.
