Now dollar is a seriouse issue, i have my whole br in $ on PP thou i could have converted them to euros, now i totally lost.Is it worth transfering my br from usd to euro at such a low point. I wonder if dollar will further drop in its value or it will ge get back where he was a month a go eventually...
Anyway this really sucks for the poker community, i wish there were EUR tables at least on sites where there is no a single american player.

another one of these threads?

*edit (figured id say something relevant)
also, the dollar is depreciating because of skeptical outlook on the economy looks like the fed is going to cut interest rates again too which should help the economy, but investors are likely to move their funds to countries where they get higher returns causing dollar value to decrease moar

also, what can you do? move your money to euros and then when the dollar recovers you cry that you should have left it there?
currency trading is a complicated thing and doing it through a poker site isnt ideal. tbh you prly should just deal with it for now and hope the dollar makes a quick recovery

well the worst part is that its really the job of other countries to raise our dollar, but they dont want that and neither do we necessarily.

the weakness of our dollar is greatly helping our trade defecit because we buy less and sell MUCH, much more. Also, while we are sitting around a 4% inflation rate(typically bad for our standards), it really isnt too bad and is just helping our economy rebound from a decent recession(our GDP is still rising decently, check the economic report of the pres from last year/quarter).

While it sucks for you guys, it helps us alot. The strength of the dollar is decided largely on the Forex(FX) market. about 1.2 trillion$ is traded daily so obv it has a large impact on price/availability/etc of currency. The dollar will rebound in regards to its strength against other currency, but things like the Sub Prime market collapse, major credit card debt with relation to consumers, etc play a large part of the decision of people to buy/sell American Dollars when talking about the "health" of our economy.

Investment potential, GDP changes, REAL interest rates(not nominal), are big things that people take into account when trading money, and the more that people are able to buy for their money but doesnt change the value of domestic goods will help us in the long run, or at least enough to get our currency "strong" again. Money swaps, options, and shorts will slow down the dollar's progress, but have faith in the greedy people trading our currency.

When the export orders start catching up with how weak the dollar has become, we can expect to see a much greater projected GDP increase which will increase the want for our money.

So in conclusion, I would wait, but really how can anyone know for sure how long it will take.

If you're remotely interested in how this all works, here is a good article I just found:
http://www.chicagofed.org/consumer_information/strong_dollar_weak_dollar.cfm

Briefly talks about advantages/disadvantages of an appreciating or depreciating currency, how currency values are determined, the foreign exchange market, and the effects of foreign exchange trading on an economy.

i remember a funny story a few years back near when ppl first adopted the Euro. The Serbs that worked at the US embassy in Serbia had always been paid in US dollars. Well, bc the dollar had been declining a lot and the Euro had been going up they argued that they lost 25% of their salaries bc Serbia's prices are obv more effected by the Euro than the dollar. Well, after months of them trying the get their pay check switched over to Euros they finally won!!! The US dollar then recovered and the hype of the Euro wore off and it stabilized. They all took a 35+% pay cut for having gambled on emotions and no knowledge of the market. They were in dollars for the dollar downswing and then switched to Euros at its inflated peak. It is suspected that the guys who made the decision to pay them in Euros felt that the dollar would recover and that they actually waited until the dollar showed signs of recovery before switching their salaries into Euros.

i really don't remeber the last time the US is going through such an important 'slowdown' aka recession, and i think its just at the tip of it. I doubt the dollar will become any stronger for a while. Plus, other international economies are getting stronger, and others are deteching themselves to the dollar in general. Finicial hubs now exist all over the world, that adopt diferent currencies or that will be able to deteach themselves of the dollar if needed. i think theres way to many signs as to the decline of the american dollar, for it to grow stronger anytime soon. just an opinion
