Thinking, missed draw of some sort
If he comes over the top I fold, but pretty sure I can get this player to lay it down

seems like pretty close decision.

depends how agressive he is imo. If he has very low aggr factor, below 1, you should probably just fold (you wont get A high, even K high to fold, and they often not agressive enough to bet river like this)

however if he is an agressive player likely to attempt to call down light, he can easily hold hands like 22 33 44, random pair of 5, flush draw. i can even imagine some players having overcards like KQ AK AQ AJ etc in their range here.

anyways i think i like it if hes around 2-3 aggr factor and not the type to call his A high whitout thinking

as played id call with A high any day. What are you raising PF that is going to beat the board or have the boat other than a high PP, and you wouldnt have checked turn with that. Also, why such a shitty raise? I dont like this at all =/. I think the only reason you picked this up was because he had complete air

WHAT A HIGH IS BETTING THE RIVER? no logic in betting the river here with a high
if vilian bets its either cuz he got overpair/full hourse, or because he want to bluff us out cuz he has air with no kicker

I think the raise is a superior play compared to the call only against a very small range of hands, like QJ KJ KQ(and these are very unlikely). Im thinking "call" is best option because it seems like vilian is going to be bluffing here more often than value betting (and remmeber we get nice odds).

but hmmm again some reads could help, if hes passive just toss it.

but maybe i shouldnt be advising a river call with J high to some 25 nl player when we dont even have a read on the vilian -_-

reason this hand was played the way it was is because it was vs a certain player

You're right about A high not betting the river for value, but he could easily make a play with an A it because with his flop call hes representing(somewhat) hitting a pair on the flop. If he has an A has some showdown value to a call here but he probably decided to fold to any play back at him when he bet.

wtf is an A high expecting to get to fold out (of better hand). of course we are never folding anything better than A high here

only better hands are full house and overpairs which we never fold

im just trying to give theories as to what this guy would be betting with here and why, not supporting anything that he would be betting with and then folding to raise that small
