thats pretty much the argument. There are 4 people in the hand so you give people the option to c/r and build a pot for you which is super nice. Raising here helps protect your hand and no one is folding a set anyway. It also gives you the bet lead so you get to dictate the size of the pot and bets. You don't give people the option to put money in thinking they're way ahead, but you also don't let flushdraws get there or get counterfeited/boated on unless they're paying a ton.

i raise. if the guy behind has a set or whatever hes not folding anyway. and you dont want to let him draw cheaply when youre deep.
