ASDF couldnt put him on 54 because of the preflop raise...

maybe bet flop?

or raise more on the turn?
i wanted to keep him in though, and the board was poorly coordinated

I pretty much always bet the flop with a set. I don't see much point in slowplaying such a concealed hand. I don't think it was a bad play here since he raised you're thinking he is either drawing dead or drawing to 2 outs (AK/AQ or KK/QQ, etc). However, if he has a big hand he will almost certainly raise you if you bet like 3/4 of the pot. If you check to him then you have to either call which is suspicious or check/raise which is even more suspicious. I like getting them to bet and get themselves pot committed with a raise and hoping that I'm bluffing having to call a big bet. The turn I also think I would have raised more, I think the min raise is again suspicious and doesn't get much into the pot. Lastly, the river is a horrible card. I don't see how you can really escape after that hits but it does make AA beat you had he slowplayed it on the flop which seems possible.

BTW what did you think he had? I don't know why you would raise the turn like that then check the river. If you check/raise the river you must have put him on Ax I would think? If you thought he had like TT-KK I would think you'd bet out first instead of check/raising because he probably won't call that bet.

It smells like up dog in here

put him on anything from TT-KK and Ax

the check on the river was also trying to induce a bluff from him like betting half his stack to steal the pot) or just valuebeting his Ax

if i bet out a lot on the river, he may fold his TT-KK or Ax, putting me on a set or just a pair of aces that beats his TT-KK, so i decided to check

i agree that the turn bet and raises are suspicious... stupid play by me, i thought he was drawing dead or close to it.t
