Hey everyone, after playing years of Holdem, I would like to have some experience in PLO. When I was learning Holdem, I was told to play tight, AK, AQ, etc. Easy way to win vs. people who don't know how to play. Could someone give me some articles about PLO that are good? I know that sounds retarded but there are some holdem articles and even books that are messed up. Thanks in advance.

I understand Ket that its what I should be doing in which I am. But Id like a platform to start off of. Like Holdem, AA obviously is best PF hand. But Omaha, theres no perfect hand preflop. Im not asking for pro tips, I just need some to start off.

captzeebo's view of pot limit omaha:

The more I see high stakes PLO hands, the more I realize I have no friggen clue how to play that game. From what I can tell, I'd estimate the biggest mistake in these PLO games is folding. Every pot I watch it seems people call 15 bb's out of position preflop correctly, then 3 people get it allin with any piece of the flop correctly, and whoever wins the tri-coinflip wins 120k.

I sometimes fold AA preflop to balance my range

yeah my post from northface's thread is really important about playing AA

also, here are some strong hand types that should generally be played for 1 raise preflop (either you call or you raise):

1. wraps with only one gap (or less), such as 3567, 5678, or 8TJQ
2. broadways with a suited ace + any 4th, such as (AK)J3
3. broadways with an ace + any connected fourth, such as AKJ9
4. connected double pairs with at least 1 suit, such as (J9)J9
5. suited ace with a three-card wrap, such as (A9)87
6. pair with three-card wrap, such as 8776, JJT9

and here are some trap hands that usually shouldn't be played at all in fullring or 6max, but that may be good for 3 or 4 handed play (and therefore they are playable to open from CO/btn):

1. KKxx, except very good ones like K(KJ)T
2. QQxx, except very good ones
3. low wraps, like 2345
4. suited ace with disconnected wrap, like (A9)75
5. bad double pairs, like 2233

i dont understand why you would ever fold a hand PF if you are dealt 4 cards

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same
