Cool music, great acting by lead. "JunO" meets "500 days of summer" (if you're into that kind of movie) Nerdy, geeky types can totally relate and root for this guy. Totally enjoyed this movie.
Breakthrough performance by Chris Evans. Cool story (based on a true one) Small time lawyers try to take on Pharma suppliers, problem is one of the lawyers is fucked up and tries to redeem himself.

pretty good. saw it when i was sleepy and not really a great movie for that. it was supposed to originally star brad pitt and cate blanchett and be a total epic. everything fell apart and the director had to cut the script for half the budget and scrap together new actors.
huge fan of that director though.

I loved Midnight in Paris - however after I saw the trailer, I was contemplating weather or not to see the movie as the trailer does not do the movie justice.

Lot of great recommendations but omg some awful ones as well. Law Abiding Citizen and Taken, really? I guess if you're not from the US you might like LAC, but that is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I watched it like 3 times for the lulz.

nice docus uick. gonna check out hot coffee and the rest. low budgeted docus can sometimes turn out fantastic viewing material.
I hope we try keep this to like 2009ish to the present, unless of course its a super-hidden gem of a movie. Some of these movies were really great to watch but not soo much now and i feel some have been seen by 95% of LPers anyway.
checked out mr. untouchable thought it was pretty good. I found it interesting how they mention frank fucas in the movie saying he wasnt shit because they owned the neighbourhood. (for those who dont know frank lucas is who the denzel washington portrays in the movie american gangster)

Yeah and of course there's this Fedor-like monster fighter there that the weakest one of them has to beat in order to get to the final... so silly. The fights were all bad and way too fast-paced too... and they just move the camera so damn much. Argh, I can't imagine a UFC fan really liking this because you literally see nothing; you're just supposed to get carried by your emotions which didn't work at all for me since I found it impossible to connect with these guys.

Standard Korean movie about revenge, although this one had street gangs and lots of fighting scenes so it was good enough
Decent suspense thriller

Martyrs (2008). Great horror movie (acutally good plot), do not watch alone, seriously fucked up because I can actually see this happening somewhere in the world. I only recommend if you want to be seriously disturbed, otherwise don't watch..

BTW, saw this recently and is a terrible doc IMO. 50% of this movie is done so you can feel how warm and cozy Hugo Chavez is. i think ayahuaska has a more powerful effect on a person as far as 'healing' is concerned.

DMT is far stronger than mushrooms
that is for sure. But also more expensive and less common, in the end what bilant is looking for can probably be achieved, to a certain degree, using shrooms. I'm sure doing DMT with a shaman in the woods is much more eye opening, but still, in the meantime?

Or even just someone who has done it and has experience with the tool in question. ive done shrooms half dozen times and ive had bad trips to most awesine ones, depending on environment, mental state and crew. anyways hope you'll get it done, and hopefully i'll get it done too!

"The Grey" is intense, but it's no "taken". If you just want a feel good popcorn movie with ridiculous badass action heroes, don't watch. If you want to cry while eating your salad for dinner, stay away. Liam Neeson is a very likeable actor so if you just wanna see him, this movie is fine.
They crash. get lost. get eaten 1 by one. showdown with alpha wolf 1v1 and he kills it but dies himself(no action scene for it wtf) ending is after long credits and lasts 1 second showing the wolf dead and Neeson resting his head on it and also about to die . no hope here lol

looks amazing, and the watchowski brothers are no longer brothers due to one of them having a sex change operation...i dont' know if they are overrated or underrated, but Matrix 1 was definitely a big moment in movie history. too bad the subsequent sequels were incapable of expanding on the first series in an elegant way.

Just saw this. I gotta say this guy has been a flop since inception with all the movies he's made. Didn't like 50/50, didn't like looper, and didn't like him in the new batman either.
This movie starts out really sweet then just fucking fail blogs in the remaining hour of it despite only being 1 hour ~25 mins long lmao. I think it's worth a watch anyways since most movies that come out lately are shit and even though imdb gave this a 6.6 I still think it's around a 7.0-7.1 because jennifer chung being nice to look at

Watched the evil dead remake, original was way better in terms of chills but this version is good enough.
Dark skies is good to watch but one of those movies that can make you depressed right after watching. If you dont mind then i recommend watching it for horror sci fi fans.

fantasticly awesome movie. I rarely ever watch westerns, but this one was great! It's alot more than just an action flick
also enjoyed this. Colin Firth is great! but don't watch it if you don't like slow-paced dramas.
and this one; if you're a fan of larry david. He plays a self-proclaimed genius, narcissist, who has a very pessimistic view on life. I guess it's a dark comedy.

Just watched Elite Squad (Tropa de Elite), which is a Brazilian movie about a captain in Brazil's SWAT-like unit who is trying to find a replacement for him. Just a really well made movie. 9/10.
I saw Elysium as well and holy fuck that movie was garbage. Boring, predictable, shitty writing, and even worse acting. Even the action was a snooze fest. How did the guy who wrote and directed District 9 make this pile?
not to spoil anything but if ur like me always being very dissapointed with horrormovies lately, or ever since the exorsist probably, cant think of many other good ones except for some lowbudget decent ones, the orphnanage was pretty good tho. so as for "higher budget" horrormovies that makes it to the cinema, this is by far the best one ive seen i think (except for some real classics). the descent was pretty good too.
just a really good noneruined horrormovie by random fucking retarded endings or too much crap SGIeffects or whatever that always ruins the horror movies that kinda starts off well.

Goddamn lone survivor was a nice modern war movie. Directed by peter berg so its very similarly shot like friday night lights which is great for the genre. American hustle is great too. Bale for oscar plz. Also out of the furnace is good if you enjoy slow grind revenge type movies

Must watch if you are not easily distracted by visual flaws of movies, but man this movie had me teary eyed at least a couple times - you need to watch the first movie to fully appreciate this one.

Thats how hollywood works now when they plan a sequel. They cant have an actor becoming mega famous and then suddenly demanding 10x his previous salary. Doesnt mean they will actually make 9 movies, but in case one of the franchises becomes really hot they want to make sure they can maintain consistency with the same cast. And you know someone like Chris Evans doesnt really have the clout to say otherwise, he's just happy to get a paycheck.

Enemies Closer - So before you dismiss this film because it has Jean Claude and Orlando Jones, this movie is shockingly good for what it's worth. I dont go around recommending retarded shit. This movie was actually rather entertaining. The fight scenes were smartly choreographed with practical stunt work instead of effects. The acting is somehow not bad and Jean Claude can actually deliver dialogue when he wants to! The 7-up guy Orlando puts on some good drama, and overall this is a pretty fun flick. It's very short coming in at 1h 15m long, but very fun for a short afternoon/evening viewing. Just give it a chance.

Just saw Snowpiercer (2014) yesturday. Amazing movie!
I don't recommend watching commercials as they will give away a lot, I saw it based on it's good reviews had no idea what it was about. Def recommend

From what I hear Jarhead 2 is going straight to DVD. Not even in the same league as lone survivor and has nothing to do with Jarhead. I hate when movies do that stuff.. kinda like american psycho 2.

Just watched Guardians of the Galaxy. Decent movie, but not as epic as everyone else said it was.
jarhead 2 was really one long gun battle scene. if you're into that type of thing (which i know 95% of guys are, you'll enjoy it) definitely better than most straight to dvd sequels. Plus jake gylenhall is not there so it's not boring as fuck as the first one haha

Draft day was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Zero plot, retarded ending and message. Trash acting. Costner absolutely mailed that one in for a check. Movie was probably shot in one week.
Jarhead 2 is straight to DVD genre trash having nothing to do with the original film just ripping off the name for recognition and sales. How would losing gyllenhaal be a positive? He is a good actor.
Prisoners and to a lesser extent source code were decent movies of his off the top of my head among others.
What did you not like about jarhead 2? Well draft day I dunno I liked the movie when I watched it. Lately I've not been looking hard enough though since I don't have the time to do so. I'll try picking better ones next time lol

It's not a movie but the show Black Mirror is pretty interesting; s2 ep2 one of the more twisted hours of television I have watched. There are 2 seasons of 3 episodes each. Each episode is completely independent of the others with different casts, settings, and plots. It's basically a dystopian look at potential pitfalls of technology and human nature in the future/alternate realities.

Pretty good movie. Highly emotive despite relatively low levels of dialogue. The movie follows a remnant of the human survivors of a once-highly populated city as they come across a city of Gorillas on an expedition to recoup some technology and all hell breaks out cuz there is an EVIL MONKEY!
