IIRC it's the same as with Finland, you don't pay taxes on winnings from sites that are within EEU (european economic union)

Is pokerstars in EEU btw? Isle of man seems to play by it's own rules, separate from the rest of EU...

EDIT: Also, from what i've heard, the burden of proof is on the prosecutor to prove that the winnings are from a site outside EEU, which is a plus

I am a NL25 player so take my advice/comments in that perspectiveLast edit: 20/03/2010 09:25

Don't think PS is considered a European site, at least according to the Swedish rules. Fairly sure they go by "base of operation".

Browsing through your hand histories makes me wonder that you might not be aware these games are possibly play money. Have you ever tried to cash out? - Kapol

I know that in Denmark(Which is very similarly to Sweden, though better) you don't pay taxes on poker winnings if the pokersite have EU license. Not all sites in EU have that but most of them have. If you play live tournaments outside of EU or online outside of EU you have to pay taxes on that.

Also, I think you might have to pay taxes on it if you're dependent on poker. I dunno. I'm drinking at a friends house and it turned out to be fucking boring

heard sweden tax is like 70% on gambling winnings. but that might only apply to sites outside the EU.

SpasticInk   Sweden. Mar 21 2010 01:55. Posts 6298

no, thats wrong

you dont pay taxes if you play on a site that is based within the EU. there has been a couple of precendets that gave the players right in courts (obeying the greater EU)

outside EU it's 30 %. but the rules are still weird .if you read them literally its basically 30 % of every hand that you win, which obv is insane, and it's not applied anyway.

if you were a terran in starcraft and you were fighting the zerg, doesn't this qualify you as a racist?
very few people actually have white ro black skin. My skin is so white, it can't even tan, it burns or gets freckles/skin cancer.
theres anglo saxons and africans and asian
where you ancestors lived for many 1000s of years determines race
i happen to believe the japanese people are the most evolved cause they have been on an island for so long. Like the lost land that had dinosaurs on it.

Do not give in to evil, but proceed ever more boldly against it.

Isle of man does not count as EEU, thus is pokerstars not tax free. The Government of Gibraltar is EEU and tax free tho!

Also it's as Dusty said, base of operation counts.
