Adjusting in HU

Finding myself having difficulties adjusting to certain type of players. Playing SnG HUs alot at the moment, and doing ok. But how do you counter someone who min raises their button 100% of the time? They will call a 3bet from you the vast majority of the time. I find myself 3betting them and loosing my way on the flop, as i have no FE because they do not fold flops. So I tried just betting flop with made hand and checking flop when not. Of course when I check OOP, they fire cbet like 100% of time. So I think maybe I should trap hands vs these guys? What is your thoughts? What should be my range be to play pots OOP vs a guy who min raises their button 100% of the time? ANd what should my 3bet range be?

I have tried calling alot of their min raises but I feel over long haul I am just bleeding chips. It does become quite frustrating. Also, they raise their button 100% of the time, but when I am on the button they rarely call or see a flop, they play much tighter. What is the best way to exploit these type of guys? Should we maybe calling more on the button with bigger hands to try and get him invovled in a hand where i have position, or should I just continually keep raising him on the button with any 2? Also if he is min raising all the time, should I adjust and min raise as well from the button or should I stick to the x3 approach?

Other opponents I feel I can adjust well. I do not have much difficulties playing vs the maniac style of player. These guys just raise just all over the place with anything, and I am quite confident playing these guys. They open shove draws and shit on flops and all sorts. Vs super passive players, these guys are just a piece of piss to play against. Its just these min raisers. Ugh they get me frustrated, and I find myself getting in with the worst hand.

Also just another scenario. Say very first hand of sng HU, and you are dealt 88. Villain min raises from button, you 3bet to 140, and he shoves. Is this a spot to snap call vs a complete unknown ? Or this a spot to let it go and try to profile villain first before doing this sort of thing?

i don't play SNG HU, but I do play a lot of HU

for the first hand, I would probably call with the 88 (even though there is value to 3betting as he is calling with worse, you will be in a lot of tough spots OOP with overcards coming)

I would probably still call with 99, but 3bet/call a shove with TT against a random

Dealing with people who minraise the button can be really frustrating, but the bottom line is, try to put the pressure on in position. If you 3bet him and he's not folding, then you're inflating the pot OOP, which is bad. Start defending more as he's opening 100% of his range (T9o etc.), and 3bet him thinly for value (QTo+). And, if he's tight from the button, then yes, you should be playing a wide variety of btns (depending on his 3bet %).

if they call all rr's and won't fold the flop just 3bet lighter for value and start barreling anything when you have decent equity (ie: 2 overs, one over + gutshot, a couple of backdoor draws etc).

If he's calling 100% of 3bets then he just sounds bad, I would polarize my 3bets to pure value hands like AJ+ and 88+ and fold everything else. Him minraising changes things a little bit, as there is some argument about calling a little lighter since he's giving you better odds.

88 first hand 3b.call always imo

when blinds become large relative to stacks minraising the bn is a valid strategy

minraising bn in general is valid and very strong.

if he raises 100% of buttons how can you not make money from these clowns? flat hands w value vs a random range (prob top 50% or maybe a bit tighter) and 3 bet the top 3rd of hands or something. then play according how villain plays post flop (does he call the flop too much? then barrel more esp with hands with equity) shouldn't be too hard to own a guy like this.

No, Im just not 3betting trash since he's going to call. Probably drops your vpip in a HU game by 10%. Still opening a lot of buttons and flatting some raises.

3bet bigger

dont 3bet 88 the first hand. Why would u wanna gamble like that. Find your edges and exploit him, don't guess about what might be on the edge of a 3bet value range.

As for the 100% minraise button, like everyone said just 3bet value hands and flatcall mid-strength & speculative ones. If he always bets the flop when u check to him then check raise your draws, and sometimes value hands too. Depending on stack sizes you can also bet flop, c/c or c/r allin turn on low dry boards with hands like AK or AQ.

i definitely wouldnt suggest 3betting the same range bigger, but u can try 3betting bigger for value only, provided he keeps calling.
