8 handed game at bellagio 10-20

seat 1: $2,000 tight regular
seat 2: $3,000 random passive tourist
seat 3button) $10,000 Super passive 80 vpip if he puts money in PF he's likely to see a flop for any amount.
seat 4: (sb)$2,000 on the tighter side, makes a couple moves from time to time
seat 5: (bb)$6,000 weak/tight
Seat 6: Me $7,000 aggro image, basically isoing the super passive guy all the time and getting owned by him flopping random 2-pairs with Q4o
Seat 7: random
seat 8: random

Okay so I get Kd Kh utg and make it 80 and the passive guy flats, the SB makes it $400 with $1600 behind and I really want to stack the passive guy so i just flat and he flats along.

Flop: 8d 7d Qs

Guy who made it $400 pre checks and I check for 2 reasons. The guy who's passive as shit pre will bet any pair here and random hands just trying to take it because he's terrible. Also I can see how the guy with $1600 reacts maybe he flopped 3 Q's etc. Anyways, the button bets $420 into this $1200 pot and the sb folds. I raise it to $1500 which seemed a little small since I kind of wanted to set it up for a turn shove but I didn't really think of it until after I check raised. He quickly called.

Turn: 8d 7d Qs Jh

I bet out $2,500 leaving myself only 2k behind and here is where i think I misplayed the hand. I mean I know he's terrible so I'm setting him up to call/call/call with any Q for the river, but there are so many bad rivers that I think a turn shove is going to be the best play. he quickly calls the $2500 and the river comes out.

River: 8d 7d Qs Jh 9d

Now what? you have 2k and the pot is like 9k, obviously idealy you dont want to get into this spot but what do you do if you get here. check/fold? just shove and hope he still calls with a random Q? check/call? this is prob one of the weirdest hands i've played just because of the opponent but i thought i'd post it up since the worst running cards came out.

You already said it, but your bet/raise sizing is really weird.

Anyway, as played and against such an opponent, I believe that check/fold is the best play on river, eventhough its ridiculous. To be honest, I think I would have just put the $2k in without much thinking in the heat of the action, but I really think c/f is the best. Like he is rarely to never gonna bluff with a one pair hand because he thinks he has some showdown value. And he is almost definately not gonna value bet AQ/KQ unless he is total novice who cant even see flushes and straights. So the only thing he is gonna bet that you possible beat is non pair or some bottom pair maybe, but those hands are kinda unlikely.

Imo c/f > push > c/c.

don't really care either way, i like the line you actually took. and yes i definitely shove the river with no hesitation whatsoever and i fully expect to get called by Q2 or better

Well don't check call, but I feel bad about shoving, although if I think he is at that level of bad to call you with as bad as Q2+ here then go ahead.

Actually the more i look at it, it's a pretty clear check-fold. He's like never gonna try and bluff river, he'll prolly even miss some ez value if he happened to like river a set or some high two pair. The biggest thing is you barely beat anything and beat absolutely nothing if he bets. I wouldnt be too worried about this kind of player attempting to turn AQ or KQ into some weird kind of bluff on you.

As played I probably shove river for the same reasons Myth said.

But you butchered the hand from start to finish. First of all - get it in pre. If this dude is as passive as you say, he could have easily flatted TT+ AQ+ that he might get in pre. By seeing a flop all you do is expose yourself to being sucked out.
Then on the flop you say this guy is "as passive as shit" then you check to him on the flop to bet? Like wtf? Your words and actions totally contradict each other. Just bet 1k on the flop, easy life
On turn, just shove as you know you should have.

I don't believe turn bet is fine, you give him direct and implied odds for bunch of hands which he's going to call a shove anyway. And the aim of poker is to get your opponent to call with negative equity

you have to shove, he probably doesnt ever bluff it but calls worse and prob checks a lot

u probably cant fold

i think i check/call cuz i think there's more money to be saved when he doesnt bet 2pair like the live nitfish that he is than when he calls w/ random Ax and Kx hands.

KQ AQ is a big part of his range so you should shove. I doubt thats what he had tho (knowing that you checked and he shoved), so you probably played the hand perfect that one time, but in the long run, you need to shove in that spot.
