i have won similar amount comparing 2007 and 2008 even thou i have improved a ton, you can make the conclusion yourself. To my mind, the future of poker depends on U.S, EU, AU etc. goverments' attitude towards poker |

Hm, I set my goal for 2008 as double the amount I made in 2007, which I thought was realistic but daring.
I started off the year extremely good and thought it would be a piece of cake to reach my goal. Well it didnt keep going that good and now I gotta say it doesnt look likely anymore that I am going to reach it. But it is still realistically possible and even if I dont reach it I will probably miss it by less than 8%.
I am afraid though that I wont be able to realistically set my money-won goal for 2009 too much higher than for 2008, I feel like my game is only improving fast enough to keep the same winrate in the games I play. Not sure yet but I think I will set my 2009 goal to something like 125% of my 2008 goal.
But I think I should be able to improve my multitabling skills a bit and also lenghten the time I am able to play focused which will result in playing more hands with the same winrate and thus higher total amount won.
Anyway, I am quite happy with the amount of money I am able to make from playing poker. If someone told me this was possible for me when I was starting, I wouldnt believe him a word.
(And btw this is my 3rd year of playing poker, in the 2nd year I made about 10 times as much as in my first year.) |

i went back to stars in march or april.. may+june was fantastic.. i couldnt lose.
July+august my luckbox stopped working.i won less than 1K in each
cashed out every month for savings/to pay my VISA card
then october i started to lose non-stop and i had to move down to 100NL... Thats what happens when you're a furious cash-outer. i continued to lose at 100NL for a short time.. my bankroll fell below 4K... didnt know this could happen.
november i'm winning again go me |

A mixture of satisfaction and disappointment. I moved to vegas in June and the live games have been fantastic, but my online volume has really suffered. I've more than quadrupled my profit this year from 2007 already but my online cash game is kind of meh at the moment with random spews when im multi tabling etc. My tournament game is pretty top notch imo and as long as I keep playing a fair amount of MTTs I feel like it will only keep improving. With that said I hope to play more cash and try to improve my winrate and hands played in 2009 while still earning a steady profit at online MTTs.

Its been bad, i'm only managing to put in around 3-4k hands on average a month WoW and work is preventing me from really taking over.
So for my new years reso, score over $10k in cash games, and be properly rolled for 200nl by May 09. |

swingy year
started off fine destroying midstakes on prima just absolutely MURDERING 2/4 and 3/6, was running at like +40k for january and february, plus printing massive bank with 65% rakeback. then in march prima stole all my rednines money, and that CRIPPLED my bankroll hugely. i lost about 75% of my online bankroll (about 40k) in that. so then i got on a tournament stake with peachy, and made a few thousand in march at wynn by making 1 final table. i also made about 10k playing live cash. then in april i made another 20k or so from tournaments at bellagio, and another like 5k in live cash, but i was down like 15k in online cash losing a lot at 5/10 on ftp. may was boring and i wasn't playing well, down another few k playing online cash.
june and july i made about 30k playing live cash and a little over 70k from WSOP. in august i made a little bit of money in online and live cash. in september i made about 22k playing live cash in macau. then in october i won a tournament to profit 13k, but i lost 12k buying 20% of a friend for the bellagio tournament series, and i lost about 5k playing live cash, and i lost a few k playing online cash. so far in november, i tried to get back into serious online cash grinding mode, and started off horribly dumping like 20 buyins at 2/4 just playing like a retard. but then i got my head on straight and started playing 5/10 again and i've been MURDERING 5/10 on stars and ftp so far in november, up like 12k.
in 2007 i netted about +180k, and in 2008 i'm up about 150k so far. but i have made an additional something like 50k through coaching and cardrunners in 2008 also.
this year has been an extremely different experience for me from 2007. last year, i was very focused on grinding lots of hours, not extremely driven to consistently improve my game, and had very little hope of eventually becoming a 25/50 or nosebleed player. i was also frugal and understood the value of a dollar. i would rarely spend excessive amounts of money on frivolous things, and i wasn't inclined to give people much money either. i suppose one of the biggest factors that makes 2008 so different is that i have become close friends with rekrul. dan life is monster life, and monster life is good life, so now myth life / rekrul life / same life. but more importantly, fuck life and nothing matters. actually neither dan nor i really originate much of our philosophy, we just learn from elky and freeroll life.
last october, i signed a huge deal with a long-term coach. at the time, i had the bankroll to play 5/10 and 10/20, but didn't have the skill to beat 3/6 yet. i wanted to use my over-padded BR and combine some coaching from an excellent player, so that i could skyrocket to 25/50 quickly. that was working well...until prima destroyed my ability to play high stakes. now, i've finally (a year later) rebuilt my bankroll to its monster glory, and am consistently beating 5/10. my coach is happy that i'm making him money, and in the time we've been working together we've become good friends. he really helps a lot and my game is extremely sharp now.
so 2008, compared to 2007 and considering that i should have expected to have a MUCH better year, is a bit of a disappointment. i mean i'm not having a bad year by any means, but i am certainly not having a much better year than last. 2009, though, will be an awesome year for me. i predict that, in 2009, i will...
- continue to beat 5/10 and 10/20 and finally make it to 25/50
- have at least 1 major score in a live tournament, such as a WPT final table
- save peachy's life over and over and over just like always
- spend a lot of money at rhino...again
- freeroll a sick night an entire month at rhino courtesy of frinkx who will win WSOP main event
- make at least 100k through coaching and also a lot from cardrunners
- stake or swap with somebody who makes a big score in some tournament
- buy a house??
i'll have to remember to look back at this post at the end of next year. here's hoping it all goes to plan! |
