hand 1 - call...it's only 1600, u got the chips, atleast see a flop
hand 2 - i like it...nothing wrong w/ winning early w/ a mid pocket pair.

***edit
hand 1 - you have position and a pair... atleast call and see what the flop brings...he's not overpowering you or anything.

i think i fold #1

WHAT IS THIS

chris   United States. Oct 14 2008 00:58. Posts 5511

1- is a shove. he is very short and you beat his range to get it in, even if the edge is minimal by him being 'tight.' his min raise is committing and his M is short enough that you have to push and expect him to call. and despite what eightfour says, DO NOT CALL! this is bad. it just allows him to shove any flop against you and put you in tougher spots than you would already have to play.

2- this is fine, i think but i would probably bet just a little less than you did, around 2150, but i think 3x is fine and even 99 more than 3x to account for the antes (and your EP) is fine as well. nice hand.

people who are saying fold or call on hand one really have not thought it through in my opinion. calling is bad, like giving away chips, since you allow yourself to be bluffed out of any pot on the flop that doesn't set you up, and folding is just too nitty. the villain who min raises IS SHORT, VERY SHORT and must have his life put to risk.

1st easy shove
2nd standard and fine

1. Fold. Tight player raising from EP, and there are a lot of people left to act behind you. If he was looser or you were in later position, I think shove would be possible. As is, those 2 factors combined make this a fold imo.

2. I think raise, call, and fold are all fine here. If the table has been playing aggressively though, I would lean towards a fold since 88 will be hard to play OOP post-flop, and the stacks are getting to the point where winning with sets only is becoming unprofitable. Otherwise, limp and raise are both ok.

eh looking again I prolly would shove the 7's. I would never call though and I can see me folding some of the time too.

I think folding and shoving the 7's are both fine and probably don't escape one another much EV-wise. the 8's are an easy raise.

the biggest reason the 77 is a shove is because of the stacks. this guy is very short and he has ~ 33% of your stack, you have to put your chips in the middle. you are a favorite against all unpaired hands, crushed 66-22 and are crushed by higher, but given his situation he is pushing hands 88+ anyway, and you have to 1) play the strength of your hand 2) take +EV risks to build your stack

Hand 1: uhm. guy that early with that short of a stack is almost never min raising 66-22. same with a random complete junk hand. with that in mind and also seeing as though you're in MP and not LP, i'd lean towards a fold.

Hand 2: totally standard.

Hand #1 - Easy shove, first it's against a minraise (I hardly ever give respect to those unless I have a good tell) - you have 16BB's and is a nice spot to take one down right then and there. Chances are he doesn't have you dominated with a MR

Hand #2 - Standard for sure, but I think I would stick to a basic raise amount. Some people fall into those "odd sized" bet tells - you may not be one of them, but if I'm paying enough attention to the game some people do. 2300 or 2400 would be fine as well.

thanks guys =D yeah hand 1 is a fold or shove imo but i might be a pussy not wanting a "flipp" ? for half my stack =P i will push next time tough ^^,

Most of the time you're probably not even getting a caller - even if you lose you still have 10BB's to make some more plays and get back into it. I think that guy is min-raising light just to pick up a cheap pot....won't happen on YOUR watch, sir!!
