Have been reading this for some time and finally decided to make my first post here after I busted out in APPT. Wanted to get people's feedback on a hand that I played since I am not sure if I made the right decisions. My chip stack is about 6500 and the blinds are 200/400 at a 9-handed table. Average stack at the table is about 12,000. 2 people limped in front and I decided to limp with 10h 8h in the cut-off. Button also called. Flop comes Ah 7h 4h. Checked all-around to me and I bet 600 into a 2,400 pot. All folded except villain on my right who called. Turn is a 8c. Villain checked and then called my 1,600 bet. River is a Jd. He went all-in (he has me covered and I called the rest of my 3,900) and I called. He then flipped over Kh Jh for the nut flush. Did I play this wrong or am I just unlucky?

Thanks. I just wasn't sure if it is OK to call with a 10 high flush. I actually didn't put him on a flush since he checked flop and turn. Thought he either has mid-pockets with a heart, A-rag with a heart, hit a set or paired the board with a high heart and is chasing. On the flop, I put out a small bet to thin out the field and also for value but wasn't really expecting to get called as it was a pretty scary board. But you are right though, should have bet more and not give free cards especially another h.

If I do put him on a flush, then there are really just the following hearts out there: 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, J, Q, K. He is fairly tight but not super tight so I think the possible limping combinations are KQ, KJ, K9, J9, 56, 23. Maybe K2. Out of these combinations, I lose to more than half of them. So if I do put him on a flush, it might be a good fold. Is it reasonable to put him on a flush though?

And on the hand, well you flopped a flush and you are not particulary deep (M= 10), so it's standard to go broke here if you don't have a sick read on him

prob would just shove PF with such a small stack after 2 limpers and pick up the dead 1400 and make your stack 20bb if im playing this hand at all.
