ok rlly weird spot. so villain seems taggish prolly plays 21/15ish but i dont have many hands with him so i dont know.
Ive been opening a lot, and i test him here with a bluff 4bet. He responds with the very little seen oop mini5bet.
I would assume his range is prtty strong preflop.

also your 4bet is really bad, your call of the 5bet is worse, and the rest is standard
don't "test" people who 3bet you a lot - they're building pots for you, just tighten up a bit and capitalize when they hang themselves. patience is a virtue against out-of-line 3bettors
4bet bluffing is really expensive and even people who are 3betting far too often are still usually not 3betting light often enough for you to profitably 4bet bluff. you prefer to use extremely selective 4bet bluffing and often for tilt induction, or at least when you can 4bet/call instead of 4bet/folding
srsly 4bet bluffing is wayyyyyy overused

doyle brunson tells us the 4th rearise is always aces... he's obviously never played online poker
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same

Myth, could you expand a little on why you hate the 4bet?
Small 4bets like this were pretty standard to mix in every now and then (but I haven't played a single hand of hold'em for a month maybe the opinion changed hugely). Is it that we have so little potential of actually making anything come the flop or the total lack of blockers to AK etc? Or has, as I said above, the opinion on these small 4bets changed really much in that short time?
I just remember having very good success with them, but I've always been fairly tight and maybe they were only just starting to become standard then and people responded poorly..
Or is it totally unrelated to anything like current trends and more so that if he's been 3betting you a ton he'll probably expect you to 4bet light and is just itching to ship it in with A5sooted?
you say 4 bet bluffing. correct me if i'm wrong but it sounds like you're saying bluffing only. If i percieve his 3 betting range to be huge and i think 1010/AQs is ahead of his range then adjusting my 4 bet range is ok right?

fox of course if you're not 4bet bluffing then you're 4betting for value and yes of course that's fine/standard
FA, small 4bet bluffing is totally appropriate when people are quite literally WAY out of line with their 3betting, and/or they have some kind of tell that betrays weakness in their 3bet this time. but most people just 4bet bluff because they don't wanna lose the pot. what i'm saying is that 4bet bluffing has to be really selective and should occur pretty rarely. there's like a 99.9% chance that this 4bet bluff was misplaced and it was done for all the wrong reasons. same is true of most 4bet bluffs
and yeah twisted has a point

below 400nl 4bet bluff intending to fold is profitable imo, think the reg 3bettors are usually not only reasonably out of line, but they have not adjusted their oop allin pf range enough to factor in how much they 3b so many regs give waaaay more credit than they should to 4bets in position. this means that you get enough folds to make it good, and usually the regs will jsut stop 3betting you light and life is ez again
