Starting to play again for fun. Just wondering what you do in these kinds of situations. No real reads on the villains and the stat samples are too small to be significant. Do you just check/give up here or lead?

for starters, playing nl4 and w/ the caller - i'd 3bet a shit-ton more.

then since people are typically brain-dead at these stakes and apparently especially on merge i'd throw out a ~25% pot bet. if called, i'd proceed cautiously. if i hit, i'd probably throw out another ~25% bet. and then i would bet whatever you think will be called

it's 2 9's and a 5 out there. pretty difficult for them to hit. u have the best hand a lot here. u need to bet for protection.

Assuming he is loose, playing a 30% vpip his possible combos include

55+,A2s+,K5s+,Q7s+,J8s+,T8s+,98s,A7o+,A5o,K9o+,Q9o+,J9o+,T9o

(59 combos)
of these 11 contain a 9 and 4 contain a 5
so 15/59 combos he hit or about 25% of the time.
since you beat most of his possible hands and if he had any premium pairs he would have 3bet pre you can very safely cbet here.
I don't even play NL and this seems like an easy decision.
