<img src="http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Raidern/justice.jpg" align="right", style="margin:5px; border:1px solid black;">Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) may introduce a pro-poker bill later this week. The bill would legalize online poker in the United States and create a federal body to watch over the sites. The bill will focus only on online poker, excluding other forms of gambling. The bill will first start in the House Energy and Commerce Committee, as Barton considers it easier for the bill to pass through that committee. Reps. Frank Barney (D-Mass) and John Campbell (R-Calif) introduced bills pro-poker in the House Financial Services Committee in the past, but their prospect don't look very promising.

According to a spokesman for Barton, online poker sites would have to be registered with a Gaming Comission from a State where gambling is permitted, such as Nevada or New Jersey. Players from all 50 states would be allowed to play for real money, except if the state where they live in opt out of the law. It isn't clear whether the bill would allow international interaction or permit only interstate interaction, like it happens in France.

John Pappas, the executive director of the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) commented “He’s respected, not only with the more socially conservative, but the more fiscally conservative caucus within the House, and brings a really credible voice to this issue [...] because he understands why regulation makes sense, not only from the perspective of a lawmaker, but also that of a poker player.”

Barton's spokesman said that the bill is in the final stages of drafting and it's expected to be released in the near future. We will update as soon as we have more information.

This bill is being proposed by a key member of the Tea Party. HOLY SHIT. This is the same guy who apologized to oil executives for receiving "shakedowns" from the senate after the gulf oil spill last year. What the flying fuck is going on in the world right now...

NeillyJQ: I really wanted to prove to myself I could beat NL200, I did over a small sample, and believe Ill be crushing there in the future.
