** High Stakes Hand of the Week ** - 1/19 - 1/25
This unreal hand shows DustySwedeDude making a play many would label as dumb. However poker has proven numerous times that, when it comes to certain spots, everything 'depends'. It's a PLO $5/$10 heads-up game and Dusty is dealt A439. He raises from the button and villain makes the call. Both players see the flop of 238 with two diamonds, which gives our hero just a pair of threes and a 4-card straight draw. What we see next, is Dusty calling over three streets with just his pair (!) and winning the hand, as villain showed complete air. The hand was good for 160bb, and Dusty's reading ability was no short of sick, so we named his hand HOTW!
DustySwedeDude calls over three streets with just a pair in PLO and wins a big pot
Runner-up: The next hand shows zumbii, also in a heads-up game ($10/$20), making a marvelous call on the river with Ace-High in a deep pot. After some agressive play preflop, villain finally calls zumbii's 4bet and both players see the 672 flop with two spades. Both guys check and the turn drops another seven, which pairs the board and makes both spades and clubs flushes possible. Villain fires an overbet and our hero calls. The river brings a four of diamonds, and villain makes a close to pot bet. Holding nothing but Ace-High, zumbii makes a brave call to win a pot worth over 3 buy-ins!
To call with A-high for over 3bi you'd have to be insane, that's what zumbii is!
** Low/Mid Stakes Hand of the Week ** - 1/19 - 1/25
This hand was played by the cleaner in a 6-handed NL100 game. It all starts with a raise from Roccefella. Robvleugel calls behind him and, holding AQ, the cleaner 3bets Roccefella's raise. Both Roccefella and robvleugel make the call. The flop comes 276 rainbow and they all check. A ten is dropped on the turn, Roccefella fires a 3/4 pot bet, robvleugel folds and the cleaner calls. The river is a 3 of hearts and Roccefella moves all-in. Holding just A-high on a 3-way pot, our hero makes the call and takes down the pot, as Roccefella showed KQ for a K-high hand!
the cleaner makes sick river call with just A-high
Runner-up: This hand shows the same hero as in the hand above making a great call on a tough spot. It all started with villain's raise, then our hero made a 3bet and got called. The flop came 39T rainbow and gave the cleaner the top pair, then both players checked. The turn was a six of diamond, villain bet and the cleaner made the call. When the eight of clubs fell on the river, villain shoved all-in and put our hero into a tricky spot. The cleaner didn't think his opponent's line indicated a better hand than his and made a sick call on a very dangerous board. His assumption proved to be right, as villain showed J8 for just third pair.
the cleaner proves how great his reading ability is by making an incredible call
Special mention: This hand, played by MARSHALL28, is here for the brutal size of the pot. Check it out!
** Low/Mid Stakes Hand of the Week ** - 1/12 - 1/18
This hand, played by our French user zemetique, shows a line that requires very accurate reading skills. zemetique was playing a $2/$4 short-handed game when he was dealt J8 offsuit. He started out with a raise, villain called from the button. The flop came 64K and zemetique fired a cbet, and villain called. The turn drops a queen, our hero fires a second barrel and villain calls. The board pairs the board on the river with a second queen. This time, zemetique induced villain into a bluff by checking. Villain fired a pot-sized bet and zemetique made an insane call with just J-high to take the pot down!

** Tournament Performances ** - 1/12 - 1/25
The best tournament score of these weeks was achieved by the arguably best basketball player on LP. Yes, him, Hevad "RaiNKhAn" Khan! After final tabling the Sunday Million but falling short of winning it, Khan took down the $215+R at PokerStars. This is one of the hardest tournaments on the poker room, and the sweet first prize was good for $35,000 ! That's awesome! |
