** High Stakes Hand of the Week ** - 12/15 - 12/28
In the last couple weeks we had only one hand submited to the high stakes thread, but we are glad it's a really good hand. Playing a $5/$10 heads-up match with an effective stack of $1066, fira called a raise with K9cc. The flop came A6J with two clubs, which gave him a flush draw. Fira bet $40 into $60, villain raised and our hero called. The turn brought a nine of hearts and fira checked and called villain's bet. The river paired the board with another six. Fira checked and saw villain try to represent a made hand by shoving all-in. Our hero made a brave call and won the pot, as villain turned up 58s for a busted straight draw.
** Low/Mid Stakes Hand of the Week ** - 12/15 - 12/28
This hand was played by Fraser, and it shows one of those impressive bluffs we see from time to time. Holding 76s, Fraser raises UTG and villain calls. The flop comes 8Q4 rainbow, giving our hero a gutshot-straight draw. He leads for $14, villain calls. The turn pairs the board with another four, Fraser fires a second barrel then villain calls. The board gets double paired when an eight falls on the river. Fraser makes a small bet, clearly attempting to trap villain. Villain falls for it and raises, then our hero reraises all-in. Even after commiting 3/4 of his stack, villain folds, as he thought he was beaten.
Runner-up: The next hand shows Naruse playing a $1/$2 full-ring game. Villain starts with a raise, then Naruse re-raises with AJ from the button and villain calls. Both players see the flop of 99Q rainbow. Villain check-raises and our hero calls. The turn brings a six of diamonds. Villain's action is an all-in shove. Naruse holds just Ace-high, but he knows he's ahead and makes the call. It proves to be the correct play, as, after another Queen falls on the river, villain shows just T8 for a busted straight draw!
The best performance of these two weeks was definitely Robinson47's runner-up finish in the Daily Eighty Grand Sunday Special, which had a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool. Robinson had to beat a field of 5573 players and play for almost ten straight hours. He got an insane paycheck, good for $24,939 . Congratulations!
Also worth mentioning are Mig's and Artanis' results. Mig got himself a 4th place finish in the Sunday Mulligan, at Full Tilt Poker. He pocketed $19,800 . Artanis came in second in one of the famous $109 at PokerStars. His paycheck was worth $9,584 . Ship it!
