Pokerplayers go bald in fight against cancer!

During the World Poker Tour Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic, which started this week, some pokerplayers brought the attention to the fight against cancer.

So why now, what's this about? A female pokerplayer, Thuy Doan, is currently fighting cancer, and due to extensive chemotherapy, she lost all her hair. Out of solidarity and to show their support, a few pokerplayers headed over to Phil Ivey's house at Bellagio to get their heads shaved by Ivey's personal barber.

A clean cut was provided for some of the biggest pokerplayers in the business: Doyle Brunson, Barry Greenstein, Eli Elezra, Joe Sebok,Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier, Peter “Apathy” Jetten, Sorel "Imper1um" Mizzi and some more. A total of 19 pokerplayers decided to step up to the plate and show their sympathy to Thuy Doan. It was all recorded on tape by Fox Sports Net's Poker2Nite who will cover this special event in a few weeks.

Let's hope this makes Doan feel better, and we're sure it does. While fighting cancer is of course no laughable matter, the process and results of the cutting resulted in some funny situations, one of them described by Peter "Apathy" Jetten on the 2p2 forum:

Sass saying to Elky right before he gets his head shaved "What if your powers are in your hair" ...That's the only time I've seen genuine fear in that mans eyes

phil ivey had a propbet with patrik antonius for 500k that he could get doyle brunson to shave all his hair off.

did they raise any money with this? or was it purely for awareness?

I'm sure they donated the hair to a group called Locks of Love which uses the hair to make wigs for cancer patients.
