Chino beat Justin Young after a long heads-up battle.
Let’s take a look at how the final table started: Seat 1: Chino Rheem -- 4,240,000
Seat 2: Amnon Filippi -- 2,750,000
Seat 3: Hoyt Corkins -- 2,295,000
Seat 4: Steve Sung -- 5,885,000
Seat 5: Justin Young -- 2,410,000
Seat 6: Evan McNiff -- 4,805,000
The first finalist to go home was Hoyt Corkins. He was eliminated by Justin Young who had AK against Hoyt's AQ. Both a king and queen came on the flop and the on the turn sealed it. Corkins finished in 6th place for a prize of $216,795.
One of the key hands of this final table happened in a 3-way pot, when each of the three guys had a pair. Justin Young had both Steve Sung and Amnon Fillipi covered and held the best hand: pocket aces. Sung's pocket kings and Fillipi's pocket nines were not able to hit and they were eliminated in 5th (Fillipi) and 4th place (Sung), earning $288,235 and $396,205 respectively. This hand also gave Young the chiplead with over 14 million chips!
FrinkX and Chino Rheem both try to close the gap, and as they are both all-in, FrinkX is in an excellent position to add Chino's stack to his. In this 5.5 million pot, he's well ahead with AJ against Chino's A9s, and after the flop, not much has changed, but the on the turn feels like a punch in the face, and when no help comes from the river, FrinkX is down to less than 1 million! This means Evan has to shove it soon, hoping to double up a few times, but it doesn't happen when he's allin with T4o against Chino's T9s. No help and he's out, earning $540,440 for his outstanding performance.
This means David "Chino" Rheem and Justin Young are heads-up, with a 2:1 chiplead for Young. A lot of hands follow with chiplead going back and forth, but in the end, it came down to two decisive hands: first Young is up 13mln to 9mln for Chino, and they get all-in on the flop of this -board. Young is ahead with but has to dodge a few clubs to beat Chino's for a flushdraw to win the tournament. Unfortunately for him, the falls on the turn and he doesnt resuck and is down 18:4. Next thing we know it's Justin Young all-in on the -flop, and with he holds top-pair. But that's not enough against the pocket kings of Chino, and with 2 blanks on turn and river it means Chino Rheem wins this event for $1,538,730 , while Justin Young has to settle for second place, cashing $936,760 .
We'd like to congratulate FrinkX for his outstanding performance
