The third day of the APPT Macau, first stop of the PokerStars asian tour, just ended a few moments ago. But first let's talk a bit about day 2, since we didn't post about it yesterday. 208 players were still alive when the day started, but less than 40 would advance through to day 3. The LPers, Elky and Rekrul, were busto out of the money zone during day 2. Elky took a huge shot when his move was called by the kings held by Emad Tahtouh. The board came , giving Tahtouh the set of kings and leaving elky with only 10,000 chips. A few moments later Elky was sent home by Charlie Chua, who completed a straight at the river. He was eliminated in the 58th position, 2 short of the money. Rekrul's last chips were lost against a pair of Queens on a drawy board. The chipleader of the 2nd day was Pokerstars qualifier Edward Sabat, who went to sleep with 379,500 chips in the plastic bag.
The set up of the final table on the day 3 of the tournament was really really fast. 16 eliminations happened in less than 90 minutes, causing the first redraw of the day with only 23 players alive. A curious story happened with Simon Greene. After waiting for more than an hour for a hand worth of his last chips, he got pocket Aces and moved all in. Diwei Huang (picture) made the call with Fives and sucked out Greene with a Five that came on the flop. Once there were only two final tables, as usual, the game slowed down. David Chiu, four-times WSOP bracelet winner, was eliminated in the 11th place. The next to be eliminated would be the final table bubble boy, and the unlucky of the evening was David Steicke, who was chipleader of day 1B and managed to stay with a high chipcount during most part of the tournament. In the final hand of the day, Steicke moved all in with a pair and a flush draw with on a board of , while Tian Chen called with . The river was the blank , none of the outs Steicke needed to win, and he was sent home with $22,692 in his pocket. Day 4 of the tournament will start at 2pm local time.
