For the first time since Full Tilt Poker's license was suspended by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission in June 2011, the system status on FTP's website turned to green, which means the room was operational. Some players tried to connect to the servers, but weren't able to do it. Some claimed that they were asked to upgrade their software and accept revised terms and conditions. There's speculation that the new owners of FTP were testing the softwares for a potential re-launch of the room in the near future.
In addition, multiple sources report that Laurent Tapie has been appointed the director and secretary of "New Full Tilt Limited," a company registered in Dublin, Ireland. New Full Tilt is categorized as a "software consultancy and supply" firm. In spite of all the rumors, it's been a long time since there is no official word from the Tapie Group.
Barney Frank not optimistic about poker bill in 2012
Barney Frank, one of the fiercest defenders of online poker in the USA, is not optimistic about the prospects of passing an internet poker bill before he retires in January 2013.
In an interview with PokerNews, Frank said that he would like to do it, but he thinks it's unlikely that it will happen. "It's still possible. (Sen. Harry) Reid wants to do it. A lot of people here want to do it. It might get done in the lame duck. It could get done as part of an overall package. But I think other things will replace it."
Frank thinks that the new interpretation of the Wire Act by the Justice Deppartment and the possibility of states doing different things may create chaos, which he considers a good argument for legislation. He added that if the Senate passes a poker bill, they could get it through the House.
