PartyPoker's tournament festival Pokerfest is set to run from April 22 - May 6. The series comprises 47 events with a guaranteed total of $3.5 million and a special Main Event with a $1 million guarantee. It's the second edition of the festival, as the inaugural edition happened in OCtober 2011. The current edition will see an increase of $500,000 in the total prize pool when compared to the first one.

Bovada closes accounts of all Washington State residents

Bovada, previously known as Bodog in the US, has banned the accounts of all players from Washington. It's known that online gambling is considered an illegal activity in Washington, so Bovada more than likely took this decision to avoid problems with the Department of Justice. It's the second time that Bovada bans players from an American state, as just last month they locked the accounts from players from Maryland. In an e-mail sent to those that have been banned, the company explains that it's having a hard time "finding and maintaining acceptable payment options".

These players will have until the end of the month to withdraw the funds from their accounts. After that, the availability of immediate cashouts is not guaranteed.



UFC champion Georges St-Pierre joins Team 888

Georges St-Pierre, one of the most recognizable faces in MMA, has joined Team 888 to become a global ambassador for the company. St-Pierre signed a 1-year deal with 888 Poker and will take part in the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event as well as other events. The partnership will also raise money to GSP's foundation.

"I have wanted to play poker for a while now as it is a great game of skill. It is not just your cards versus my cards; it is you versus your opponent. However, the most important aspect of my partnership with 888poker is that we are going to generate a great deal of money for my foundation that dedicates its efforts towards anti-bullying causes," St-Pierre said.

Other MMA fighters have shown interest in poker in the past as well. Randy Couture hosts an annual charity tournament and the likes of Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin have played WSOP events.
