It was a close and we would have an amateur winning PartyPoker Premier League V. Mathew Frankland, who was only one of two players that qualified to the tournament and were completely unknown in the field full of most recognizable names in poker scene, started on Tuesday with the largest chip stack after topping ladder-board on pre-eliminations. However, poker sharks ate him alive and he finished 7th, while Scott Seiver won half a million dollars and a championship title on his birthday.

The final heads-up was played between Scott Seiver and an online poker phenomenon Daniel “Jungleman” Cates. The battle started with even chip counts, and Seiver needed just few minutes to take a 500,000 chip lead (with 1.2mln starting stacks) with his aggressive game and some luck.
When blinds were at 20,000/40,000, Cates got it all-in pre-flop with 7-7, racing in a classing coin flip against Seiver's K-Q. Flop brought T-T-4, 3 on the turn, but Seiver spiked a King on the river and took down the event for the $500,000 first prize.

Each player in the PartyPoker Premier League V also received $2,000 for each point earned in the pre-eliminations. In the end, all 16 players participating won prize money, though only Seiver, Cates, Laak, Patrik Antonius, Tony G, Frankland, and Tom Dwan made enough to cover the $125,000 buy-in.
As mentioned earlier Frankland won his seat in a satellite, so his winnings were all profit as well. his winnings were all profit.

what, 125k buy in and 500k first?

Browsing through your hand histories makes me wonder that you might not be aware these games are possibly play money. Have you ever tried to cash out? - Kapol

well everyone entering got paid, so its not a normal structure of payout in any way, much less variance i guess

lol 125k buyin, cash for 4 grand

would be interesting to see what sort of effect this structure would have on player's variance over the long run

Laak still running good. It seems like only yesterday that he was a total trash pro player but he's stepped up his tournament game a lot in the past 2 years, especially in Europe.

Rekrul is a newb
