PokerStars is going to host two charitable tournaments on Sunday to help raise funds to Norwegian poker pro Thor Hansen. Aged 64, Hansen was diagnosed with cancer just a few weeks ago. Half of the money raised will go towards the Thor Hansen Charity Fund, which was founded by poker pros Andreas Høivold and Frode Fagerli to assist Hansen with his treatment. The other half of the money will go to the prize pool.

The first tournament will begin tomorrow at 19:30 CET and will be a $10+10 event. The second will event will kick off just half an hour later and will have a $50+$50 buy-in. You can find both tournaments on PokerStars lobby under the 'Tourneys - Regional' tab.

Duhamel's WSOP bracelet found

Late last year WSOP Champion Jonathan Duhamel had his home robbed by two armed men. Amongst the robbed items was the WSOP bracelet he won in 2008. Surprisingly, the bracelet has be found, albeit not in the best conditions. The item was found by a street sweeper in the Ville-Marie tunnel in Montreal. Duhamel said that he was more concerned about the sentimental value of the bracelet and that he is grateful regardless of the condition. Now, he looks forward to recover the rest of it.

Just a couple of weeks ago, the Canadian police found half of the money the robbers stole from Duhamel's house. The four people involved in the assault are going to appear before the court on February 21.

Federal bill unlikely for poker until 2013

The prospects of a federal bill permitting online poker in the USA in 2012 are not good. That's what gaming analysts believe after lawmakers didn't attach online poker to the payroll tax cut extension. On Thursday, Sen. Harry Reid ended hopes that an online poker bill would be attached to a bill that renewed payroll tax cut through the end of the year. Only a few days ago, there were rumors that this bill could potentially feature online poker regulations.

On the other hand, Macquarie Securities gaming analyst Chad Beynon believes that this may be a good year for intrastate online poker, as (besides Nevada) he expects New Jersey, Iowa and California to adopt online gaming legislation.

California one time. I guess micro/low grindin for now, too risky to have a midstakes roll online.
