First of all hi to all!
I've been visiting LP for more than few years just to look at ROFL thread, and read some threads. I decided to give a shot at posting some hands since I started playing a bit again. I also have some concept/general questions about NLHE, but I'll post that later maybe. Anyways, here are the hands:
First hand guyy is 24/20/18.6 after 44... he seemed aggressive but I didn't really play more than just a check/fold vs him.
I've been getting crushed honestly at NL5 and NL10 with JJ pf so I don't know how to play it well. I thought if this guy is aggro, it's more +EV if I let him fire. What do you do on turn ??? Or what would you do PF, or flop ?

Second hand guy is 33/30 and 0% 3bet after 44 hands. Also, little history but guy seemed rather solid I believe.
Is my play ok here ?
I thought that standard cbet is ok on this type of board and the sizing (?)
On the turn I thought that once he calls, he must have at least some sort of pocket pair coz the board is so dry. He could be floating, but it would rather be suicide.
I checked because I don't see him calling 3 streets with worse, and if I check I give him chance to bluff if he believes I have totally missed, or got some AK/AQ type of hand. He can either check behind, and I can get value on the river.
But he bets instead and I call because I don't see any point in raising, really.
On the river it gets interesting, coz I know there is very little chance he either has flush (rather impossible, unless misclick, or 89h float), or a ten. I shove because I turn his hand into a bluff catcher, that would otherwise probably check behind (PP), or bet if it was better and I would have to call anyway coz I can't really fold here.
I thought it was the best play, but actually there weren't really any hands I could turn into a bluff, so it might just as well be a stupid play.
Any help, input, advice is greatly appreciated on both hands!!! Thanks!

hand 1: Well played, Probably raise turn unless you think he will fire blank rivers w/ AK type hands (alot of players won't), then just flat.
hand 2: Definitely bet turn. You don't want to let an A,8 or 9 roll off on the river and ruin your action. Villain has hands like 88,99,T9s, that always call turn. |

Thanks for your comments.
hand 1: I eventually shoved, but wasn't too sure about my hand being good there, really. Do I get called by worse there ever ???
He literally insta-bet the turn, and took a long while to fold. I wonder if he could have folded better than mine for 40BB more... When I re-raise him all-in there it seems like I have a monster.
Isn't it better to just call the turn IP there ? Since as I say, I don't think I get called by worst ?
hand 2: Yes, I agree that betting turn is better given that he could hold 88,99,T9,s, maybe AT. I haven't even thought of those hands when the turn came... but I guess I have to expand people's ranges.
But that creates another question. It all depends on the 3bet calling ranges right ? And I know that with no reads this is only theory, but what would be the best play given that he was holding only pocket pairs, 66+ and we evaluate the hand from the turn.
When I run that in pokerstove on the turn - KK vs 66+ it's 57.5% for KK vs 42.5% for 66+. I know that 88/99 will fold most of the time given 60% bet, 66/77 will call/shove, JJ,QQ,KK,AA will call most of the time.
And if I get called vs 66+, and the river comes a Th, what is the best plan knowing that 88/99 folded 75% of the time (?), and the rest - 66/77/TT/AA beat me, JJ/QQ,KK win/split.
I'd appreciate all comments, cause I never really spent any time before breaking down hands due to being too lazy, and this might be off just as well.

hand 1; we wont expect villian to 2-3 barrel bluff since this is nl10 and your hand is pretty good here. so i would minraise flop to try and induce some action/protect your hand/get it in.
hand2: standard 3barrel for value. |

Stroggoz - what should be the villain's 3bet % to say my hand is pretty good here ?
I mean 18.6% is ok to proceed as you told, but what would be the % range to do the same if it was somebody else ?
Because obviously if somebody had 1.8% 3bet after 2k hands I probably wouldn't play the same...
I'm just trying to estimate the value of JJ preflop.
Thanks |

you shouldn't get cute like you did in hand 2 unless you have a very specific read which points towards this being more profitable then 3-barrelling |

you can figure these things out using pokerstove. Top 1.8% of hands is AA, KK, QQ, JJ.
the two most important variables for getting it in are 1) his 3bet % stat. 2) hands youve seen him 3bet with. Then there are other variables like how they play postflop in this particular spot. example: they could 3bet jam the flop with AK every time.
if you've ever seen him 3bet with a non top 3% hand then i'd say it's safe to get it in vs someone 3betting 1.8%. if not, then it's ok to just fold pre as you only beat bottom of his range. |
