PokerStars announced the new European Poker Tour Season 9 schedule featuring more poker, more variety of games and more opportunities for players to qualify or enter at buy-in levels that are right for them. This is quite a big change from previous EPT scheme - PokerStars is moving towards less stops, but with more tournaments over longer spans of time.
Europe’s richest and most popular poker tour confirmed stops in eight major cities and said it will partner with local tours at each stop to create bigger festivals with more poker.
EPT has confirmed eight events, and each event aims to be a spectacular can’t-miss festival of poker with a huge selection of poker action. The first stop will be the ever-popular EPT Barcelona event starting August 15, and the tour will then visit San Remo, Prague, the Bahamas, Deauville, London, Berlin, with the Grand Final in Monaco.
In addition to this, the EPT in Season 9 will link up with its regional poker tour partners such as the Estrellas Poker Tour and the UK & Ireland Poker Tour, which will mean more tournaments with a greater variety of buy-ins to satisfy players of every bankroll.
EPT High Rollers
As well as adding a greater number of lower buy-in tournaments, the EPT will include more High Roller action in the upcoming season. There will be a €10,000 tournament at every stop, a €50,000 event in Barcelona and a $100,000/€100,000 Super High Roller and $25,000/€25,000 High Roller tournaments at the PCA in the Bahamas and Grand Final in Monte Carlo. Throughout the year, there will also be a new €10,000 Championship Series for players of games in a variety of disciplines, including Heads-Up, Pot-Limit Omaha and 8-Game. The first High Roller tournament of the season will be a brand new €50,000 tournament at the opening event in Barcelona. The televised event will be the biggest buy-in poker tournament Barcelona has ever seen.
Specializing in service
Among the fun and noticeable improvements to Season 9 is the EPT’s redoubled effort to provide its players with the best possible service. The best example is the brand new EPT Hotels Concierge service that will provide personalised attention for whatever players need: concert tickets, side trips, someone to buy a toothbrush.
Season 9 will also see the launch of the European Players Advisory Council. The EPAC will be made up of interested players who will meet with PokerStars and the EPT on a quarterly basis to share experiences and feedback. This will ensure that the EPT is in regular contact with the players and is able to respond and react quickly to implement any changes and make the EPT the best it can possibly be.
Enhanced online qualification
During Season 9 there will be more opportunities than ever before to qualify online for the EPT. There will be a greater number of online qualifiers to suit players of all levels and bankrolls. Qualifying periods for each individual event will also be extended, and new and exciting qualifying formats will be introduced. One of these new formats, starting in May, will be the Players’ Choice satellites where winning players can win an EPT package for an event of their choice.
