There's 0 house edge on taking the odds, its the only bet in a casino with no edge. You have to make a pass line bet to do this though, where the house edge is only 1.41%. So with a $10 pass line bet it doesn't matter how much you have behind, the house edge in terms of money is the same (14 cents), but in terms of percentage the total house edge goes way down depending on how much u can take in odds behind. If you can take 5x the house edge is approximately going down 5 times percentage wise, but if u can take 1000x the house edge is going down *about* 1000 times. Its not entirely accurate because you can only take the odds after a point is rolled.

some pointers to add:

-i think it's good etiquette to ask the table if it's cool if you enter on someone's roll. pretty much no one will ever decline but a lot of ppl have rituals and routines and i think it's polite to alert them that you are joining the table. you also start off on a good foot and build camaraderie.

-don't pass is actually losing less money but don't even think about it. everyone will hate you and i think it's terrible etiquette. the only ppl i ever see doing it are just miserable ppl and you don't want to be put in that category.

-if it's an option and you don't feel uncomfortable play at the black table not the white table. white ppl are usually extremely miserable or exceptionally bro'ish at the table and don't know how to shoot dice. white old ladies are the exception. obviously going w/ a large group w/ the intentions to get drunk is the best option. it is easily the best pre-game in a casino.

-if someone is throwing rocks and putting a nice roll together it is the equivalent of a pitcher working on a no hitter. any encouragement or enthusiasm is fine but do not bring up the roll until they break.

blackjack isn't bad either but better for killing short periods of time. like if you are waiting for someone order a drink and play some bj. it's hard to socialize if you are w/ ppl that are focusing a lot on not fucking up basic strategy too bad and there are many more actions per hour. counting and trying to socialize and vice verse is stupid.

craps played correctly seems to be it.

I love craps and its a ton of fun, i understand the minimal house edge BUT, playing 10 with 100 behind and chilling and drinking is not a great plan. Ya the long run edge is very tiny, but you could lose that 110 before ur 3 dollar drink comes.

Always play on tables with black people (who don't look tooooooo degen, but degen enough.) and hot girls.

lol the black tables are great bc, from experience(not racism), they bet dumb shit like hard ways and hops(1 roll bet) and complain when they keep losing. It is very humorous to me. They are also fun to be around and not miserable people. I prefer to bet with young people whenever possible to prevent myself from feeling too degen.

What if you taking full odds is too expensive for you? . Let's say you bet 10 on passline and only 20 behind on a 6 or 8. Are you better off just betting points? I think 6 and 8 are only 1.4% edge. It is pretty boring only betting the pass and behind pass and clearly, i'm not looking to maximize EV or else I'd just play poker.

For now(assuming 10 table) I usually bet pass line, 20 behind for 6 and 8, 16 behind for 5 and 9 and 10behind for 4 and 10. I will also bet 12(12 or 18) on 6(8 if point is 6).How much am I losing per roll?

I just think black people have the coolest dice throw of any ethnicity. Not racist i have TWO black friends.

exactly, and tahts why its fun, BUT not a good way to kill time and not lose money lol. 10 minutes in and you could be in trouble, especially on a cold table.
