playing on ft of 180 max

so, ive seen good players who tighten up when it comes to ft and also ive seen some sickos like bfizz11 or mi_turtle who are crazy pushers (those who know them know it). i mean is it really profitable to push with like 15 bbs when there are some short stacks and some big stacks with like JTo? im really confused, because when i look at players i named above i begin to think its all about luck. i know those guys arent donks, but some of their plays just make me wonder..

I'm guessing you're talking about turbos. The blinds + antes make stealing very desirable. You often have higher fold equity than you should because of things like people folding when they're committed and the times you do get called JT isn't so shabby versus a random top 30% hand you're probably getting called by.

yea i know what you mean. there are some sick pushes. Like Mi shoves 17 bbs utg when he is 1/9 with A7 or JT and gets looked up occasionally by the top hands. But like jch said FE is very high due to people's desire to get ITM. In the low stakes, you can get away with a tighter(shoving bvb, bu, co) or a crazy agressive style based on the table. In the micros, players are either too stationy or too weak, so quickly figure that out in the first few hands and adjust. In the higher stakes most players will be very aggressive and it will be difficult to get those shove spots in late positions so it will be tougher to just wait and you gotta pump it up.

from what I saw turtle usually tightens up in FT's and plays more of icm style.Bfizz doesnt though. I'm still not sure whats really right though they both pretty much crush over pretty decent sample sizes. Id say the JT w/15bbs all depends on stacks ur shoving into how many ppl left to act. Are they regs are they randoms etc etc etc

u guys are talking about how proftable these moves are whereas there are some decent winning players who dont do that at all (boku, blumenkind would be good examples). so the question is: are those crazy pushes really taking the most of the game or are they something we should not do if we just want to make a living playing mtt sngs?

Its pretty hard to call someone a lucksac when they are winning over a decent sample. From the 2 hands I actually could see up there. the JQ one wasn't even bad considering that ThoNapalm is shoving ATC there. The JTo on the other hand I dunno why he would limp it there. u can be a winning players in 180 max games and loose a lot of money in 10-15k tournaments- it is variance, just look at the boku's 180 max graph. u need to realize it takes a huge sample to tell if one is a good sng player, there is too many out there who think they are the best after a ridiculous number of games played and that is pretty sad. and zep if u dont understand it u r a retard lol

His M is like 2.2-2.3 there. The JT call is because the other guy also has M < 3 so pushes wide range and calling there with JTo cannot be very bad. It may be slightly -$ ev but only slightly, but calling and doubling up gives him some chips which is what really matters I guess.
Playing ev-optimal poker on penny scale with stack of M=2 is not what these guys have in mind.

The last hand: he has M=2.2 or so, smallest stack on the table and picks up JQo. WTF is your problem with that call?
