So can someone, with all the knowledge we have now, kinda put together an explanation of what the fuck happened and what the bigger idea was? I'm hearing purgatory, they were all dead, reincarnation, enlightenment, going to heaven, and more. So what the fuck was this story about?

in this last episode when they told desmond that he 'really didnt have to go' with flocke... thats so true, you always have a choice, but sometimes its an obvious choice but nevertheless A CHOICE. we as well ALWAYS had the choice of watching this thing through the end, even though we were never told that we would have our questions answered, we just chose it all the way. the thing that matters is the journey itself for its the journey that gets you to feel all sorts of emotions, not the end place because if you keep looking for 'it', it will never stop. HAHA just like jacob and man in black moms said 'one question will just lead to another'

yea, i mean to me the series didnt live up to expectations from the season 3 finale. that was the real turning point of the show when i had great expectations for it. i was entertained by a lot of episodes along the way, but overall im kinda disappointed when i look back on the series and dont really have much of a desire to rewatch everything now that its over.

How can people get this far into the show and not understand it? The events of the island actually happened, the survivors were alive on the island. The events of the sideways are in an ambigous timeline when ALL the survivors are gone. Christian's statement clearly points this out, "some died before you, some after," along with Hurley and Ben obviously having a past that is after Jack's death in the final scene, showing more went on after his death than what we saw. Hugo says "you WERE a good number 2", and Ben replies "And you WERE a good number 1" Miles, Lapidus, Claire, Richard, Sawyer and Kate all left the island, only to die some time after Jack. Jack died as he walked around the bamboos, which was obviously where he first woke up. Ben and Hugo did what Richard and Jacob did until who knows when, and then they died. We dont know when this happened. It could be the day after they took the job, or it could be hundreds or thousands of years after, like how it was for Jacob. The purgatory is timeless. When one of them dies, they experience what we just saw. So, when Locke was killed by Ben, he began to see the alternative timeline, got hit by Desmond, remembered his on-island life through Jack, and so on. They are in the same purgatory realm, even if they didn't die at the same time. Island = Real Flash Sideways = Purgatory/Afterlife The Church and the final scene = Heaven

its not about not understanding it, we just think it sucks ass. I would seriously rather them leaving it a mystery and not explaining anything than feeding us this horseshit ending.

I don't know if anyone followed X-Files. IMO X-files did a much better job at managing the plot, keeping it interesting while moving forward, tying up old arcs while creating new ones. However by the end it was also apparent the writers wouldn't have enough time to explain everything so they made an equally disappointing, perhaps more so finale. But the overall quality of the series again imo, was much better than Lost. The writing was good, the themes were colorful and interesting. Some of the stuff in the early seasons did get wrapped up nicely.

I wonder what Lady Gaga has to say ab't this.

the island isnt purgatory, it was real life, purgatory is the church/the flashbacks, were they meet after dying to forget about the island (their life) and move on
