LOST (spoilers start page 6 and on) - Page 24

I thought the ending was pretty fantastic. It wasn't "just" a they were all dead ending. There was the ending on the island and there was the ending on the Lax universe. The ending on the island was great because it showed how far the characters have come from the beginning, from living meaningless lives to having lives of faith and redemption. The ending on LAX was great because everyone found their loved ones and moved on together. For the people saying deus ex machina and better nate than lever are only seeing one side. I couldn't have been happier and am okay with them not talking about Walt.

agreed 100%, i enjoyed the ending.

If you wanted all the questions answered, the ending would have been shit. What you basically want a lecture for a finale? Are you people serious?

i am ok with the finale. as far as finales go it wrapped things up decently, although it got pretty fucking homo at the end there. but with the rest of the season.....they couldnt have done THAT much better of a job honestly. the problem lies within the buildup.

im still really really disappointed in the jacob/mib flashback. that was the one episode they should have stretched into 2-3 and really answered some questions we care about instead of the WE AINT GOTZ TO EXPLAIN SHIT picture.

the whole point of the whole show is WE AINT GOTZ TO EXPLAIN SHIT, not only with jacob/mib

i mean seriously what did you guys REALLY REALLY care about that didnt get explained enough for you? cause i didnt care about a whole lot, im ok with just developing the story for the most part but certain things NEEDED to be explained, but i didnt care about most of the stuff they left out

why does that need to explained to you, does it really even matter? do they really need to come out and say HEY THE ISLAND IS PURGATORY! i mean whats the fucking point of saying THE ISLAND IS ________, it seems unnecessary and would be so dumb, like a vanilla sky ending aka the worst movie ever where they point blank explain the whole thing to you and youre sitting there like this is dumb

and again that was a problem with the flashback. every problem i had with the show was with the jacob/mib flashback, the finale did about as good a job as could be expected. i didnt say i loved it, but it was good enough for me, and had a lot of gay shit at the end.

i mean the only stuff i really cared about was the light, the mothers story, some stuff about that episode, etc. i dont give a shit about walt or some of the other mysteries, but everything i cared about was supposed to be explained in the flashback and they failed

im honestly ok with a lot of open to interpretation shit, i just wanted to know a bunch of things and they missed the boat on explaining it, then wrapped up the series in a decent way. i know it sucks they never explained those things at all, but after they didnt do it in the flashback they couldnt do it afterwards and the finale was fine. all im sayin.

LOL that's exactly what I did except I thought the episode was only two hours instead of two and a half. When the two hours was almost up Jack had just finished plugging up the light source. I kept thinking man they've got a lot of shit to explain in these next nine minutes, the only way it can happen is if Christian Sheppard suddenly comes out of a hole at the bottom of the cave and tells Jack everything. Then nothing happened for the next 30min until when Christian did come out and proceeded to give the most hilarious "plot explanation" in tv history.

I don't know how anyone can be cool with the ending. The writers constructed very specific mystery arcs while leaving behind consistent clues sometimes even across different seasons only to in the end, put in about 1% the effort into tying up the arcs as they put in into creating them. Giving a shit one liner quote that may or may not allude to the afterlife to a story arc that may or may not be important in the last 5 minutes of a series finale is probably one of the most irresponsible pieces of fiction writing ever. Lost writers should seriously be arrested for irresponsible writing. Their business model was basically to draw in viewers with the pull of a mystery with potential then when millions of people invested and the show made its money, the writers stopped caring.

I don't know if anyone saw Jimmy Kimmel afterward but the guy who played Jack said something like, it was such a beautiful ending that could've been interpreted in so many ways depending on your religious conviction, blah blah. Even if we don't hold the writers responsible for explaining anything, the quality of writing in Lost is on the level of Days of Our Lives. Every episode is almost exclusively made up of melodramatic bullshit. Despite name dropping philosophers all over, the show never produced a single conversation that touched upon any remotely interesting theme. In fact I'm almost certain none of the writers know who any of the people they named the main characters after are. John Locke had NOTHING to do with the philosopher John Locke. Desmond Hume did not resemble David Hume in any way. I've no idea how they even heard about the name Rousseau.

The writers pretty much name dropped a shitload of people to make the show look more interesting than it really is, similar to how they made up mysteries they never had the creative capacity to finish just to get people to watch. The ending was NOT interesting or anything close to a religious allegory, it was simply an ultra shitty way of tying up a gigantic ball of shit. Good mystery writing may be ambiguous but it's consistent. Lost is ambiguous but inconsistent because people don't know what the fuck they're doing. Please don't mistake ambiguity for good writing.

im ok with the end as well - a lot of crazy shit happen because people struggle for them to happen when they could just let go and consequently 'everything' aka 'anything' is ok

and obviously, this is highly subjective, this is good TV as far as you decide if you like it or not based upon what is happening in your head

and btw people saying that they feel robbed etcetc need anything explained, you just have to let go. all the time youve watched the show because you chose to do it, they didnt force you to do anything without your consensus. the way i see it, you just have to let go of things you wanted to understand but couldnt and just enjoy whatever happened because you chose it to happen
