all i saw was more frustrating shit

meh, tonights episode was interesting and cool to find the backstory behind it all, but for one it felt rushed to do all that story in 40 minutes and for two they could have basically said anything for that story and it wasnt as compelling or interesting to me as richard alperts story. maybe the ~4th best episode this season and ~8th-10th best overall

Jacob being forced into drinking the wine, yet now he has his own agenda to free will(of sorts)

there were SO many more instances in this episode where subtle things were revealed it was so well written. i agree it couldve been muuuuch longer, but it was amazing. the only thing i felt they left out was maybe the building of the statue jacob lived in, altho im sure that came much later. also like to know what time pd it was in.

after seeing alperts story, and then seeing desmonds episode, i was MUUUUUUCH more compelled by desmonds than alperts. alperts was a bit of a let down for me.

My impression of the episode was basically they explained jacob and MIB's shit without actually explaining anything and of course creating more questions. Who's the mother, where did she come from, what's the light, what does it have to do with the turning of the wheel, if MIB is dead what is the smoke monster and everything else it did, etc, etc, etc. The most important aspect I'm pissed about is they keep referencing all sorts of literature and religious shit without making it clear how exactly like/unlike Lost is to the stuff it references, like is it actually a biblical story? Where are the writers coming from when they banter on human nature, are they talking about sin? Or is it some intro level hippie bullshit about human greed? Is there a heaven and hell in the Lost universe, if so is it biblical?

Lost writers need to understand that after not bringing the noise for 5 seasons, when it's time to bring the noise you can't bypass it by throwing more vague shit in.

yea partially my problem. i mean its their story they can do it how they want it but man they should have like 2 hours devoted to this shit.

but i guess its one of those "someone has always been there" type things and sort of like existence in a sense. just wish they explained it a little bit better

It's also about being consistent. You can't provide scientific logical explanations for half of the stuff then suddenly go into magical realism mode for the other half. I mean it's fine to blend genres but the writers clearly have no idea what they're doing. The "explanation" of the cave and the light is just so lol.

What annoys me, which is something simple, they wont fucking say the name of MIB...

How exactly did the mom kill the entire village and bury the well yet then mib kills her with a knife to the stomach. I mean the mom character is so frustrating they dont explain anything whatsoever about who she is how she has powers what they are etc.

Now iam just getting frustrated with lost because it seems fairly certain they are just randomly adding all this magic shit and a lot of it has no thought behind it and is only there to superficially answer a question from the previous season and act as a deus ex machina to move the story along.

Although I guess it can be speculated that Jacob's brother isn't really the men in black/the evil being that must be kept on the island. That entity simply possessed Jacob's brother's body after he died going down the magical tunnel which just so happens to release the evil being re: rubbing on a lantern style
