Baal you are not exactly the best informed person about live poker though. There are some pretty sick players that play exclusively live. Not saying Townsend couldn't win, but live poker is a bit more evolved than the WPT DVD's you ordered. Not trying to single you out or anything, but there is no way you can have an accurate opinion about live poker lol.

I can see this being true to a degree, but the overall higher average skill of players at a given limit online vs live is definitely not up for debate. I'm sure there are a number of world class players playing live-only though.

live players are used to playing 20 to 30buyins deep.
online its usually 1 to 5bi deep
id say its a very different game and good live vs good online players are just about equal, online we shit our panties when we get over 200bbs deep oop, live they still play very well with marginal holdings. i dont see the difference how live players are so bad except for the fact that theyre just a) recreational players b) there are just too many of em out there c) they have many ways of getting info and reads thus sometimes make ridic plays

For me playing very well oop deep vs someone decent has a lot to do with not doing it very much.

ok ill be the nice guy for a change and a good advice is to take what i say blindly because trust me, i (we) know way more than you about this game, so here it goes.

Online poker is like 10 times harder than live poker, Live is full of ridiculous fish while online has way more regulars and is much much tougher, Brian Townsend is one of the best NLHE and PLO players in the world and he would crush any live donk you might idiolize like Negranu, Phil Hellmuth or whatever random TV donk with the exeption of maybe Phil Ivey and nobody else.

So when you say Townsend or Hastings wont beat live poker, we all laugh.

LOL. So you think that grinding online is 10x harder then live??? Get a clue. Only games that u can safely call soft is 5/10NL and below and I GURANTEE you, i'll make much more mass tabling low as .5/1NL online.

It tilts me when a online player who has no clue talk about how ez live games are when they haven't even grinded a month of high stakes game in their life. Grinding online poker is like playing video game at home. Live poker is another monster. Besides, every established poker room is stacked with online winners in the highstakes line up. Sure, u might've got lucky while playing once or twice on peak time and loled at the table full of fish but that's because not many players who play for living like to sit miserably infront of the felt on holidays.

It's been a long time since moneymaker took down the wsop. The days of highstakes games filled with clueless whales is over. Commerce 20/40NL games is not the official heaven for printing money anymore. Games at vegas suck. Bellagio is the only place that runs 25/50 regularly and I heard games aren't that good. Notorious Ed T's loft games at NYC became once a month thing. last time I played, half the table was half stacking and no1 bothered to reload. Borgata's 25/50 rarely runs longer then 10hours. So where are those live monkeys ur talking about? Do i gotta take 20hr flight weekly to macau?

There's ALOTTTT more new fish dropping online then live.

Ok, i take back what i said about Townsend. I surrender.

And i agree that playing online is 10 times tougher if not 20 times harder than playing live. That's why i prefer to play live over online b/c it's easier to win money. You guys are good. I'll be honest i can't play online. I tried it. Grinded playing 5-10 cent then moved up to 10-25 cent. Was up over 60 buyins in a 2-3 month period then lost 3/4 of it in like two weeks and was like wtf. It's a fucking bitch.

You live then you die and are reborn
