Actually, it's a clear sign that they are pros who care about their earnings and non some dick-measuring contest. If you know that you are at a disadvantage against a certain player in a certain game, why would you willingly play that person in that game? Doubt any of them hate money. Now, I am not sure how many of them believe that isildur is better than they are in NLH, so can't really say who chooses to play him and why. The bottom line is that in poker, the only meaningful measure of success is money won. It makes no sense to knowingly put yourself in situations where you stand to lose it. |

A pro should be willing to play any competition, i would rather play against someone i consider much better than me, so i can adapt and improve my game, rather than avoid him and not improve at all. Which is what durrrr is doing and has the right mindset.
Though i respect everyones opinion is different . |

That is retarded, so you think Durrr should play anybody in HORSE? no he wont cuz he is probably a big dog on it, thats why people dodge Isildur on NLHE, all the players who thought they didnt have an edge, simple as that. |

kind of high variance to sit down to a perhaps superiour player at nosebleeds to "get better".

Pretty much what baal said. Professionals in the business of investing don't tend to invest in things they know will most likely cost them money. Poker players are investers too, so why should they be any different? Sure, if you think playing someone better will be EV+ in the long run since you can start winning more and at higher limits later, it's a valid argument. But since the variance is so high, and the edges so small, I doubt it would be ev+ for anyone of them (If they indeed though they were a dog against him in NLHE). |
