can someone provide some info on the settlement of people into gaza by neighboring nations, i have not read enough about this, but it is my impression that many (if not most) of the people living there have emigrated to this land but I have no idea how I have that impression in my head. |

you mean this?
After the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, Egypt occupied Gaza and its surrounding area. The city's growing population was augmented by an influx of Arab refugees fleeing nearby cities, towns and villages that were captured by Israel. Israel captured the city and the Gaza Strip during the 1967 Six Day War, but withdrew under Israel's unilateral disengagement plan in 2005, according to which Israel would continue to control Gaza's coastline and airspace and reserve the right to undertake military operations when necessary.

There isn't. People call anyone with an anti-zionist or anti-Israel position an anti-semite, but they're two different things. From my research, there are actually plenty of Jewish denominations which don't believe it is within the rules of the Torah for the Jews to have a Jewish state prior to the return of the messiah. Read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satmar#Satmar_opposition_to_Zionism and here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neturei_Karta
These are small groups I understand, but were they non-jews with the same views its hard to argue they wouldn't be labeled anti-semites by much of the population.
Given I live in the Northeast US (one of the larger Jewish populations on Earth) I may be biased and not realize how big of an issue anti-semitism is in Europe and Australia, but I consider myself fairly objective and I haven't seen nearly the level of anti-semitism as I do anti-Islamic views here. Again, this is probably a product of being in Northeast United States, but I'm not convinced it's drastically different across the pond.
I'd love to talk more about this though cause I'm genuinely curious. |

Also, Ball / King / Cap etc.,
I understand this is an extremely sensitive issue and very difficult to talk about but at the same time I'm impressed that it actually has been somewhat on the civil side. Given that the LP is a largely international community I know that I personally could learn a lot from the conflicting view points here. I think I'm largely ignorant on the topic and would love to hear any opinions even if they are biased or strongly based on emotion.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts King, as I don't know anyone from Israel and it's refreshing to hear from someone whose live is affected so personally. Hopefully we can pull this thread into a constructive discussion.
And all the Capaneo haters, his debate skills may be suspect, but he is a Persian with plenty of ties to this conflict / the middle east and some wait shoudl be given to the things he said, albeit if with a grain of salt. |

ive been looking at some polls now, theyre pretty interesting
http://palestinethinktank.com/2008/05/10/annual-arab-public-opinion-poll/
arabs in the following countries were polled : Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Lebanon and Jordan.
21% answered "I am prepared for a just and comprehensive peace with Israel if Israel is willing to return all the territories occupied in the 1967 war including East Jerusalem, and the Arab governments should put more effort into this
52% answered "I am prepared for a just and comprehensive peace with Israel if Israel is willing to return all the territories occupied in the 1967 war including East Jerusalem, but I don't believe the Israelis will ever give up these territories peacefully"
19% answered "Even if the Israelis return all of the territories occupied in 1967 peacefully, the Arabs should continue to fight Israel no matter the outcome
I mean, obviously a significant amount of the population in arab countries have grown hateful of the very idea of israel. but it seems like a common misconception that "all the arabs want israel wiped off the map" when it is actually only one out of five who want this- about the same number who wants arabs to make a bigger effort into making a lasting peace..
edit: a funny tidbit, as it has also seemed like a common misconception amongst americans that arabs hate their values
in the same poll, they were asked "would you say your attitudes toward the US are based more on American values or American policy in the Middle East"
80% answered based on american policy, 12% answered based on american values. |

can someone give me some history info.
present day Israel belonged to Britian before WWII? It was then 'given' to the Jews?
How was this new country created, as in who were considered citizens, it was a democracy yes?
what sparked the first conflict between the arab nations and Israel? |

Yeah, an other argument you got out of your ass .... Actually i know a lot of palestinians/Libanese people who just want to live in peace and if it means sharing Palestine with jews they'd be ok with it. I like how you just come up with stupid statments like these ones. For someone who "think" he's smart, you lack a lot of basic knowledge and your view of the world is pretty naive, just like the gazillions of retarded threads you make. |
