I arrived in Thailand a couple of nights ago, and I'm wondering if there are any LPers in Thailand who are willing to :

1) Show me around Bangkok, help me with some questions I have
2) Do a stars transfer for USD or Baht trade (around $500?) I'll give you 5%.

My e-check cashouts in December were cancelled and I spent a lot of money in L.A. before I arrived here so I'm on a pretty tight budget right now. I'm staying on Khao San Rd and the only internet access I have is at the internet cafes, so I'll check back again tomorrow sometime.

Ewwww, Khao San is full of filthy backpacker tourists. Unless you're one of them, don't do it!!

You should go to RCA, just tell the taxi drivers, they know and go like "RCA? Discotec" and you say "yes yes!" and nod. or say "Chai". Then go to Flix or Route 66 and ship. Those are awesome during the weeks and weekends. Monday is slightly slower day usually. On tuesday's you can go to Bed Supper Club and wednesday too (wed. is model's night).

Afterparty places such as Spicy and Boss are generally very dirty so I recommend wearing extra condoms with girls you might pick up at those places.

Alright so far my two biggest issues are:

1) I came here without a visa so I got like 24 "legal" days left that I can stay. I know there are things like visa runs you can do but I'm not sure what I should do if I want to stay longer.

2) I only got about 4500 baht on me until my $1k e-check from stars comes in. I chose to stay on Khao San road because I got done with the customs and picking up my bag at like 1:30am and I didn't know anywhere else to go (I looked in my lonely planet guide and khao san looked like the best option), and right now it's the only place I can afford to stay for ~9 days right?

My most desired outcome would be staying in Bangkok for at least 6 months renting a 1-bedroom apartment in a decent location + fully furnished, internet access, laundry etc. for max $500/month with muay thai classes nearby.

If I can't find a way to make the above happen then once my money comes in I'll just have to fly to Korea early :/

I was in BKK for like 3-4 days then left because I couldn't stand it. There are plenty of nice restaurants to take girls as well as good movie theatres (Paragon, Emporium, Central World).

I didn't personally go to Pattaya, but haven't really heard anything positive about the place. From what I hear, the beaches are dirty and all the girls are those $20 whores everyone here seem to love on a level that doesn't seem healthy. At least the beaches in Phuket are nice, so I guess I'd recommend that over it.

Bed supper club is reasonably close to that, no? I don't exactly remember tbh. But that's a good club to go on tue/wed. I'd recommend RCA (Flix & Route 66) or going to Ekkamai (altho, can't really say which clubs are the best there after Santika burned down). I've never heard of Scratch dog tho.

Yea i went RCA for new year and was pretty good...also went to an after hours club called KaraFun (http://www.bkkguru.com/karafun-after-hours-club/) which was decent.... i've been to places like "spice" which are just filled with dirty old farang guys and whores...major turn off

Chobo, it really depends on the location tho. You can live in a 300 square penthouse in a 5 star hotel if you're willing to drive 40min to get to where action's at for 1300€/month. Most of the stuff offered for tourists (especially over the internet) is way overpriced.

Spitfiree, I think that Thailand is the country you can buy aaaanaything and, even that, for reasonable price. So if you do something illegal, I'd rather pay off the cops than go to Thai jail.
Even in a lot of the third world countries, money opens a lot of doors to fun stuff - I don't know whether Thailand is usually considered as one of these, but when you walk around in the high level places, you'll see that it's probably like anything in europe etc. anyway in terms of sophistication. The contrast between the rich and the poor is just more visible.
