If a player takes his helmet off it's usually out of respect. Especially if they are wearing a visor. You can't fight guy wearing a visor because you'll cut up your hand. Hockey fights are fun, and they usually do it to pump up the crowd of their team. It also tends to happen after a dirty hit by the opposing team.

They dont care if they're suspended, the coach doesnt care either win or lose, Players are paid fix $M/Year even if they cant play cuz of an injury and battle attract people so the coach get more money, its pretty obvious lol

I love hockey and i love emotional physical hockey games, but whats really really gay is how this year, every time a big body check is thrown, regardless of whether its clean or dirty, someone starts a fight. if its attempting to injure a star player then ya i can see it, but fuck bodychecks are way more a part of the game than fighting. players shouldnt have to scrap a 240 pound neanderthal everytime they throw a big hit.

baal, it's a team thing man... the team won't care if your suspended because the team knows that you have a good reason for fighting, and they won't question you about it, and the team konws that everyone on the team would do the same given the roles were switched.

No its retarded, the objective of the game is TO WIN, fighting acomplishes nothing thowards that goal, actually getting a 5min suspension makes it less likely for your team to win, so its not a team thing at all, on the contrary, its a selfish act of childish tantrum where you take your anger and put it in first place even before victory, that is pathetic.

5min penalty does not put your team short a skater, and there are positives that can result from a fight (ie. waking up your team, making sure the other team isn't taking liberties with your star player, etc.)
A lot of sports can actually benefit from allowing some sort of accountability. US football comes to mind so that your star players (ie. QB) isn't just taking cheapshots after cheapshots from the scrubs on the other team.
