I'm trying to point out everything he did wrong in this hand from the very start but he keeps trying to justify it, so I'm posting it on LP to let you all convince him instead. Anyone want to help him out?

The only hands a nit balances in his range are the nuts, the second nuts, and the third nuts.Last edit: 04/01/2009 04:49

going broke w/ J3o is never wrong

ur friend is right imo

Browsing through your hand histories makes me wonder that you might not be aware these games are possibly play money. Have you ever tried to cash out? - Kapol

He was getting 4-to-1 odds, dunno how can you fold anything preflop with those odds. Flop reraise is...I don't know, kind of leaves you no exit. I would call the flop and check/call turn and probably the river. Would probably still lose half of your stack, but probably you are supposed to lose a lot there.

I'm not good though

just fold preflop man. This whole hand is played pretty gross.

J3o is what-top 50%? Top 40? Why do you fold it with 4-to-1 pot odds?

Xenocidegs   United States. Jan 04 2009 12:50. Posts 365

if you are gonna play here, raise the other blind and make them fold pre or fold to a continuation bet on the flop. Limping here is so weak/tight and just puts you in shit spots.

j3o is nowhere near top 40% of hands, u fold it because u are spewing chips by calling.

you have some SERIOUS leaks if you think this hand was fine preflop imo

yep. Although I think raising is fine too considering the bb should be folding like everything.

assuming you're not joking...

Fuck 4-1 pot odds bvb with a trash hand...

You don't want to PLAY J3o...like..ever..

Either raise this pre and hope BB has the sense to fold so you get blinds, or, as you're 30bb deep and this is a 2$ tourny, fold you're sb and proceed to rape the table from button, cut-off and even possibly hi-jack.

You really, really really don't want to play J3o limped out of position...

I'm not joking, but I am not a good player. Harrington in his book says that if youre getting odds like that (against 1 player) you call with whatever trash you hold.
What makes this such a bad call? What is the calling range in such a situation?

Sheitan   Canada. Jan 04 2009 17:01. Posts 4217

Don't ever limp SB vs BB at this stage except if you are both deep (and even i'd never limp J3o wtf), either raise or fold depending on villain. If he's on the tight side raise, if he's loose your hand is weak and you're probably spewing chips away. As played fold flop also you're spewing way too many chips.

Odds are exactly 50%, either happens or it doesnt

at these lvls I would fold pre unless you were on some type of bubble where he'd have more incentive to fold (in which case i'd raise this hand b/c i would be raising literally any two cards). Limping can be ok, but this hand is really bad so either just raise to win or fold pre (mostly this, bc bad players will call too much instead of restealing on you, and your hand plays bad obv.)

point is he should raise of fold. there is no calling range.

point is also you will get raised when limped in too, which means you just lost valuable chips.

anyway, j3o is trash and playing a flop with it oop will not merit any good.

you can call an all in with those odds but you cannot play a hand with garbage like this

The only hands a nit balances in his range are the nuts, the second nuts, and the third nuts.
