DURR:

ya i mean this wasnt supposed to be posted yet but w/e. Anyway... there are obv a few conditions, im out of it- but off the top of my head:

1) 200-400min (nl/plo obv)
2) can change tables anytime eff stacks are >250bb
3) have to reload when stacks are <75bb
4) $$ won in the challenge is kept obv (if i win 750k in poker, i get that PLUS your 500k- if i lose 750k in poker you get 2.25m total).
5) same stakes the whole time
6) not open to phil galfond

hmm probly some other stuff but im out of it b/c i jus got owned @ some scrabble. I was gonna think up official 'terms' and post em or something, but thought i had another week or two b4 it became public.

durrrr is very smart and i have no edge in a direct hu match but im hoping variance and 1m handicap can give me a worthy enough edge. but probably not....i'll have to think it through

Is 50k enough hands to minimize variance enough? Doesnt seem like a good bet for durr.

If I had the money I'd buy in on some action of a good player going against durr.

Now I really am a busto. Thanks FTP.Last edit: 03/01/2009 00:42

Laying down 3:1 is pretty sick, especially when you call monster egos to a hu match, Larsluzak/cts/Ivey should prolly snap this i dont think durrrr has any edge on them (not sure about cts tho). I pray the lord for Ivey calling him, he's a beast and this prop bet would be epic.

Odds are exactly 50%, either happens or it doesnt

Really this is +EV for all and any of the top guys, the problem is its not as +EV as playing fish for 50 thousand hands. Its foolish to think Durr has any kind of edge over any of them, the reality is its so close up there this will end up 50 thousand hands of variance. It oftentimes comes down to luck even in sports where there is no luck- be that soccer, rally, or competitive basket weaving. Reminds me of that Townsend fella. Wheres he now tho?

Lol Townsend had made 5-6 Millions from Poker before 2008 !
I doubt hes down even 1/3 of that amount in 2008 >-<

Phil Galfond is the most consistent winner in online poker besides Phil Ivey
While guys like Durrr and Antonius have huge swings and some month are liek down 1 million and the next month they are up 2 milions
galfond is always winning every month

Peachy should do this ^^

50k hands... think about this bet carefully
1. How likely is it that someone who starts off losing to durr will be able to complete the 50k hands? I think most people would have to forfeit if they start the match down a few mil, whereas durr would not quit if he was down.
2. 50k hands is a lot, if durr has over a 2ptbb edge, then I think this is a good proposition for durr (not including the chance someone quits before the 50k hands)

im sure there is more to think about but yea, i would love to see this go down

BT has a blog on Cardrunners, just read it and you will know what hes up to. He surely suffered from a downswing but he havent stopped playing, hes playing pretty frequently up to 10k PLO (think he cashed out and started from scratch kinda)

He totally focus on PLO and thats why he dont play any highstakes NL.

Also I am pretty sure I have heard him saying in some CR video or was it in some of his blogs, that he can not work or do anything(if he wish) a single day for the rest of his life and he will have enough money to live well.So just because he is not in a mood or w/e is his reason to play 200-400+ doesn't mean he is in debts.

I don't think durrr would have a huge edge over peachy BUT he certainly have one let's face it. Altho 50k hands + variance and the 3:1 odds might be an ev+ spot for peachy. If Fayth had the roll to jump into this i'm 100% sure he'd snap call, because this guy is one fearless mother fucker.

ok so he lets you pick the stakes and you can switch stakes whenever you want?

1. start off with 100knl, and win 1.5 buyins (+$150k)
2. move down to 40k nl and fold the next 49k hands (-$140k~) or whatever
3. win the 1.5m

durr posted some modified conditions in the original thread which includes a set limit.

NMcNasty    United States. Jan 04 2009 01:47. Posts 2041

I think the main problem is that even for the people that are rolled for it and feel they have an edge on durr, 50k hands just isnt going to be worth it for them opportunity cost-wise. Ivey for example played 100k hands in 2008 and made 7.5 mil according to highstakesdb. So if he plans to play the same amount in 2009 its like he's going to have to make at least 3.75 mil off durr for the bet to be worth it. The same applies for the dang bros and antonius and a few others but on a lesser scale. Degenyamine is imo the most likely candidate. He's rolled and seems to be willing to play a ton of hands in bad games already so its not like he's doing anything really differently. Im sure people would agree durr has the edge in NL but Mr B might have an edge in PLO enough to make up for that. There's also the very real possibility some random 2+2er with a big ego might want to take a stab (krantz, ansky, cts?) but imo they just wont have enough experience at the nosebleeds and probably arent quite rolled enough for it to be a good idea.

Hmm, why don't some of those guys with bigger ego's from 2+2 or wherever mix up their rolls and let one guy represent them? Or maybe they could even cut a deal that they would that they can each play 1/3 of the amount of hands or whatever although I doubt anyone would trust their peer enough to let them play for it on this amount of money.

Sickest thing would obviously be the Finnish vs. Durrr. PA, Ziig and LarsLurzak since PA will probably never do this alone playing that many hands.

i would definitely enjoy a NLHE 4 table match over a plo match but the crazy swings would be entertaining

why would he be sweating when its exacly what he wanted? I mean its pretty obv it was among those guys to accept this challenge. And at least in Degenyamines case i think hes rather drooling!

PA is has more discipline and its a tad more conservative than Ivey who tries to get into their opponents heads and its willing to push smaller edges so it would be a much more interesting match against durrr imo.

Hmm, I obviously never played the guys so hard to tell but I think somewhere around Cardrunners (I think it was CTS plays LarsLurzak vid) that CTS said that PA has kind of a unique HU style with some definite leaks back then. But since his style is so unique and noticably different from those other nosebleed regulars I think that'd really add some nice dynamics and all to the match.

Nontheless, both would be insanely awesome matches. Even Benyamine would be cool probably a lot on PLO but that'd probably be the least interesting of the three.

Thing is, Durrr makes it an interesting match not really mattering who he plays, he is probably one of the sickest hero's to ever live.

o my god im gonna orgasm from just reading this.

and btw if durr plays degenamine first hes gonna have such a sick time

imo he should own him pretty hard and then he'll have a sick confidence+ bankroll boost when it comes to patrick and ivey.

one more opinion of mine is that antonious is def another underdog and durr will beat him down too but to less of an extent as degenamine. and who knows ivey might even duck him when it comes his turn. obviously that wouldn't be characteristic of ivey but when its that much money on the line peoples egos get set aside.

I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance, by running away from the scene of an accident.

What you dont see is that the side money of $500k for all ben, ivey and PA is such a small amount. Just like ivey said there is a huge chance someone is going to loose 5-10mil if they keep playing.
Also they usually play the 100k game so for them its only 5buy-ins.

So im sure as soon as they loose 1mil in a 40k game they will call it quite and then again Durr will be ending up with only 1.5mil addition to his bank roll which is not a "huge boost" for him.

IMO Durr is more likly to loose in his first match.

And I dont know about DB or Durr PLO skills but what I know that PLO is extremly swingy specially at this level.
There are two things that can happen
1) As soon as Durr hits down 1mil he is going to call off the bet ending up down 2.5mil. And its GG.
2) DB can end down 1mil and still keep going till he knows it will only cost him 500k to get out.

Now if Durr doesnt stop after being down 1mil. He knows two more games just as tough if not tougher are about to come after this. Making him way more inclinded to be off guard off his game.

1.5 million dollars is a fairly size-able boost to anyone playing poker regularly besides Laliberte.

Btw, I think Ivey is spot on in that there's a very real chance that someone (Benyamine maybe?) gets significantly damaged from this. Nosebleed HU PLO for that many hands is ricockulous. Who knows though. Which makes this super f'ing interesting as if it weren't already.

Also, I think people would be surprised at how much ego might play a factor in one not quitting. Despite the stakes.

I side bet my 500 to anyone's 1500 and I pick DB vs Durr.

Or other amounts if you guys want to at the same odds.

Anyone??!

DB vs durrr will probably be DB raping durrr at PLO with durrr raping DB at NL...just going to see who can win the best. I think durrr will probably pull it out cuz he'll own in NL and runs like god so he will win all the PLO flips

jesus, i mean i have no clue about them, but you people its just like u have no idea whatesoever who you are talking about.... Benyamine does not destroy Dwan in PLO HU, however Dwan's edge in NLHE is much bigger, also Dwan does not run like god, given his losseness any kind of luck swing is massive, ive seen Dwan run like insane shit this year many times.
