season of giving boys and girls, so time to give a lil something back.

here's assassinato's description of it on p5 for those of you who dont know what it is:

A stranger is being shown around a village that he has just become part of. He is shown a well and his guide says "On any day except Tuesday, you can shout any question down that well and you'll be told the answer." The man seems pretty impressed, and so he shouts down, "Why not on Tuesday?" A voice from in the well shouts back, "Because on Tuesday, it's your day in the well."

So yeah, essentially, in this thread, I'll answer any question you have about playing professionally, the game, myself, or any random question you have that might not even to do with poker.

hardest level i had in moving up was 1/2. my bankroll first reached 3k in july of 2005. i lost half of it back at 1/2 then grinded it back at .5/1 and retried again in august, same result. grinded it back retried, same result in september. grinded it back same result in november. i was left with 1000 online, then got scammed by some guy who stole travis's msn and i cashed out some spending money and was left with 500. i dicked around for a few months playing sngs, limit holdem, stud and other games, and through grinding bonuses and barely winning in any of these i had 1500 by march. then i went back to nl cash and regrinded and this time i didnt lose at 1/2 and moved up very fast.

biggest upswing in 1 day in cash i think +40k at 25/50 nl. i think one day when i was in omaha visiting genius28/ahh snap, i made 60k. i was +20k between 10/20 25/50 plo and nl, made 10k in 5k hu sngs vs moumouth, and i made 30k splitting action in 200/400 plo.

biggest downswing in 1 day -40k at 25/50 nl. had one bad 200/400 nl session where i had 1/3 action and lost 30k. have had a few bad 200/400 plo sessions where i lost about 25k (had 1/4 action).

i finished undergrad in may 2006. by that point i had 10k bankroll and was planning on going to penn state phd math program. over that summer i made 50k, but decided to go to school anyway cause i wasnt yet making enough to drop all other options and just pursue poker. by PCA i had made another 40k, but still didnt feel comfortable dropping out of school having only made ~110k. after pca school no longer felt like a necessity and i could concentrate more on poker, and i eventually dropped out of my classes midway through that semester.

to people who just started i would advice reading some literature. id say dan harringtons cash game books are the best start. then id just play 2k hands a day, invest in pokertracker and look at all the biggest losers/winner hands each day and try to keep improving. id also try to watch 1 or 2 videos a week, read the forums of the limits youre at and the high stakes forums to see what people are thinking about at different levels.

happiness definitely pca win. same with monetarily.

worst poker day mentality wise was the 24 hour stretch where i busted out of the 15k 5k last year in 6th place. was 2/7 with 3.3 mill chips at 30k/60k and lost 3 all ins in a row before FT, then lost first hand on final table and was pretty devastated cause of the payout structure. i got 192k and first was 2.5mill, i was crushed, was sick for a few days after it.

assuming someone can maintain 5ptbb, that means 1 buyin per 1000 hands. i think lowstakes players who are making it their living should play 4k hands a day avg. thats 4 buyins per day avg, say 1200 per year with missed days due to holidays. id say a .5/1 nl player can live off his earnings doing this. under that you just dont make enough to pay bills, save for future, and build up a good base so you can eventually buy a house, car, etc

a lot. i do a lot of stuff just to balance my range in a lot of spots because the players are smart enough to take advantage of your exploitabilities. they arent as sharp as 5/10 6max players by any means but just make sure youre not doing anything too obvious. make note of flops you check fold too much, flops you check behind too much, boards you give up a lot on the turn/river, etc. dont need to go that deep but its important

right now hm, i guess its like 1.3 mil after all the taxes ive paid and not including the money i have out in staking investments (regardless of whether the player has the money and hasnt sent it yet or is down).

i think poker is sustainable but will be way less profitable in 5 years

Do you think that many winning poker players are capable of moving up levels (say 2/4 winning players) to higher stakes, but just don't try hard enough? What was the biggest necessary change you had to do to go from beating midstakes to highstakes (1000 nl +)?

How much value would you put on conversing with other winning high stakes players on a regular basis? ( I never do this and I think it stunts my growth)

online cash games. i hate dirty chips, 35 hands an hour, disgusting grumpy old men, super high rake, tipping dealers and casinos in general. the games are much easier at higher limits but i prefer playing online.

live mtts. structures are so good and huge buyins/payouts make up for how much i dislike live poker at times.

i dont drink soda.

hard to say. i love christmas and dont care too much about WSOP besides the staking side of things, but WSOP means fun summer in vegas, xmas usually means cold winter. i have to go with WSOP cause its a really exciting month as a backer

EPTs are better run, in fun cities ive never been to, have worse players. but WPTs have been very nice to me so i cant hate on them.

conan obviously

i love all women so hard to choose one, blondes catch my eye more to start out but i think im more attracted to hotter brunettes

LP of course. im not doing this well on CR am i?

FTP. ps should have added me to team stars but didnt and ftp added me and im very happy now.

i dont think many people are capable of it anymore, games are much harder than they used to be. you need to be intelligent, patient, disciplined and have lots of other qualities that not many people possess while also putting in a lot of hard work.

for me moving up to those levels i just had to get more aggressive and play more hands because i was too tight back in the day. thats not a problem most people have, in general its the opposite.

and id put a huge huge amount of value on talking to good players. always good to see how other players think and what they would do in situations that give you trouble, and also is a confidence booster to see that other players who are good also have problems with certain things you might

id say about equal. im looking at PT right now and in my last 100k hands i am up 38k with most of my hands at 2/4, some at 3/6, some at 5/10 and a very small amount elsewhere, but winrate is 4.69, so im up around 94 buyins in this time.

i am not up more than 2k on any one player in this time period, and the guys im up over 1500 on are mostly from 5/10 and 3/6 games not 2/4. i am up on a lot of regulars though which is the cause of a lot of my profits, but with the exception of one 2/4 player i am not up 4 buyins on any reg so a lot of the money just gets exchanged between regs and a ton of the profits actually comes from fish. so id say its probably fairly equal, but hard to say exactly how much is from each

2. what advice, both general and specific, as far as adjusting, would you give to an online mtt player who plans to expand to more live tournaments? assume little live tournament experience, but considerable live cash game experience. not obv things like noticing stack sizes cause they're not displayed, etc... more strategy (open less/more, etc.) than logistics, if you can

1. i think most mtt pros are weak deepstacked. hard to explain how really theyre just not very good deepstacked, make a lot of mistakes. i also think most people have a lot to learn about shoving/preflop poker in general when youre anywhere from 15-45bb deep.

2. not much advice i can give. tourneys are tourneys and you have live experience. i guess live tourney players push worse than online guys and do some spewy things shortstacked that you should watch out for (you raise utg they call in cutoff with 20bb, this doesnt mean they have aces)

3. i think the hottest black girl is hotter than the hottest asian girl but i think there are more fuckable asian girls than black girls

4. halle berry and a bunch of half asian chicks like kristin kreuk

5. not as much! but there will be some eventually

i was too tight. i never won pots unless i had the nuts. one really important thing i learned from durrrr is that a lot of mediocre players put too much money in with their good hands and not enough money with their mediocre or bad hands.

How do you abuse a somewhat nitty regular (say 18/15/2.0 ) who doesn't fold alot to cbets and 3bets at 6max (NL200 / NL400)?

What kind of activities do you do besides poker to make you feel better about your life? Or are you perfectly fine with just playing poker, hanging out with friends etc.

How many times do you check LP a day?

Have you been coached and by whom, and what were the "breakthrough- ideas / thoughts / moments" that really helped your game improve?

I'm practicing at the $4-180 man sngs right now.
i FT'd one today and my opponents were all pretty tight most were like 14/10 or something i would guess.
how would you go about beat this table? or maybe a final table/MTT in general? i came in as chip leader and i made a couple bad/good plays and ended up busting in 7th.

to an MTT new player id recommend the same, reading some books, watching videos and reading forums. theres just too much info for you to take in to learn it all in one place.
if everyone is tight just open a lot of hands. pay a lot of attention to stacksizes and dont raise if you cant call a shove from people that have 10bb or less.

i raise a lot of hands cause i prefer getting the pots hu or 3 way so its easier to outplay people and takedown pots. id say in the first level if i have 500bb in a live mtt im playing 40% of the hands cause people are pretty weak deepstacked.

there was a contest on p5 where people wrote up why they should be picked and i had the best writeup by far.
i didnt really learn all that much from it. before pca we only did 1 or 2 sessions and after pca we did 1 or 2 more. it helped cement a few things i knew and i learned a little bit about hu play after the pca but for the most part it didnt help me a ton.

top 5 lp hu players in no particular order would prob be rekrul, peachy, thor, straate, pooruser.

did you have any "aha" moment(s) where everything just started to click?

do you remeber any great threads from LP?

what do you think to yourself when you get sucked out on over and over?

How do you go about analyzing a hand? do you use excel? pad n paper?

if you started breaking even for a large number of hands how would you go about improving your play?

where do you see yourself in 5 years?

use a pee bottle when playing a long mass table FR session? 8D

no aha moments, hard to say what i really learned day by day. i guess the biggest aha moment ive ever had is when i was watching genius28 play about 18 months ago and i saw him turn a hand into a bluff on the river and i realized there was a whole new world of possible lines i could take.

most of the best LP threads are in general lol. the best strategy thread ive read in detail was probably the one where i copied jman's question from 2p2 over: if you are on the button playing 25/50 5k deep, good solid aggro cutoff raises to 175, you make it 550 and he calls, now you can choose your hand, and rank in order of preference: a) 75s, b) 88, c) A2s, d) KJo. that got a lot of good theoretical discussion and most hands are pretty straightforward.

if i broke even for a lot of hands id prob go look through all the hands i was playing, watch some videos, and watch what the winning regs were doing that i wasnt or what i wasnt adjusting to well that they were doing. would also play less tables and take a lot of notes on everyone.

in 5 years i see myself playing for 6 months a year, travelling, and hopefully be in a long term relationship by that point cause id like to have kids before im old.

i dont play sessions that are longer than 5 hours and i have a pretty good bladder so not a problem.

if i had 10 million id sit at railheaven and play day in day out until i had a 1m downswing. if i had 2m online id sit and sell a lot of pieces of myself. pretty confident in a guy laliberte game if any good 2/4 player sits they are a winner as long as the money doesnt cause them to make bad plays

2barrel more. and 3bet him less oop, more in position, and check behind some flops to make your cbets in 3bet pots more credible.

lately, my life during the week is something like: sleep for 8 hours, play for 5 hours, workout (either gym or jiu jitsu) for 1.5-3 hours, food another 1-2 hours, talk to people online another 4 hours, dick around/watch tv/talk to parents the rest of the day. my friends have jobs so i dont hang out during the week. on the weekends we usually either go into hoboken or NYC one of the nights, and go to some bars around here the other night.

i probably check LP 20 times a day. theres a lot of random open webpage, scroll down, dont look at anything particular, open another webpage.

i havent been coached, but ive talked to a lot of good players, and described one of these earlier. another important moment was thinking about what flops people cbet, what flops people check behind on, which led me to calling more hands preflop that hit the flops that people always cbet.

well when talking about MTT ability its mainly about online mtts because live mtt are deep enough where its like an online cash game for a significant amount of time.
and i put hevad 5th with patrick and i guess the random cash game players when they take them serious are about that same level. live would be different because someone like peachy can do really well and run a tourney over like ept london cause its relatively deep for a long time

6. Most invincible champ?

1. hard to say. i guess id say mark hunt cause when you are that accurate with punches and have the best chin ever you can really stand in there and take extra aim
2. a few years ago crocop. now its hard to say cause theres so many random k1'ers that fight mma. of the strictly mma fighters excluding guys like semmy, kid, etc id have to say anderson silva
3. fedor probably. arona is reallly strong as well.
4. bj penn. ill take winnin them fights by dominant position over aoki or nog. and a guy like maia doesnt have the striking to setup his takedowns as well as bj does, or the strikes on the ground to give his passes more umph, but maia is def very close.
5. gsp
6. miguel torres seems completely invincible based on height/reach/skill advantages, way more so than any other champ

Biggest nit on LP now that you've gone and learned how to play?

Would Badr Hari have a chance to be champ in UFC or such (ie: beating like Fedor and those guys) if he learned some ground game?

still have some nitty tendencies and will always have the big fold desire within me lol
biggest nit now is probably either doomer, ket or joe
hari could be ok in mma, obv needs a lot of work on ground game and his chin is kinda suspect so i dunno if he would be the best choice from k1

Hi Daut and thank you for going into the well, here's my questions:

- How much luck do you need to win a tournament depending on the field: 500 people, 1k,2k,5k+ ?

- Do you advocate playing tight nowadays at the start and open up progressivly OR be more agressive at the beginning to build a stack fast/bust early if things don't go your way. How did you run during your PCA victory (decent, jesus christ mode, poorly ?), did you have a plan or just improvised, what was your bluffing frequency by then (i've seen your heads-up and you picked a couple of spots to run sick bluffs) ?

Odds are exactly 50%, either happens or it doesnt

How hard was it for you to learn PLO? (in terms of time dedicated, and how long it took to feel comfortable)

I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance, by running away from the scene of an accident.

you need a lot. in a 1000 person soft field the best player will maybe win 1 out of 200 times on avg

i think you need to play selectively aggro vs most players so you pick up a lot of small pots, dont risk a lot of your stack, but also make people feel pressured that you can put in your stack with any draw or hand.

during pca i ran ok, i never sucked out on anyone (i won JJ v KK vs a shortstack once who had like 25-30% of my stack) for all my chips, i just kept getting it in good and winning. i think i only lost one all in the whole tourney. i won aa v qq twice, kk v 22, at v q8, doubled up on the river twice (trips vs overpair, set vs overpair) and aq v a9 early on day 2. i lost a flip 77 v aq sometime on day 2 but for the most part i just got it in good and won my all ins. i didnt really know much about how to play tournaments back then so i just found good spots to steal, waited for hands, didnt overcommit, etc. i didnt get aggro until it was 3 handed.

tough question. bumhunters make a looooooooot of money hu, but there are so many these days and not that many fish to go around so im not sure thats the best method until youre at 25/50 anymore.
6max there are plenty of games and the fish's money is spread to less people, and 9max you can play a ton of tables and put in tons of hands. i would say at 1/2-2/4 full ring is the best, at 3/6 to 10/20 6max is the best, 25/50 and higher hu is the best.

it took a good amount of time. id say i put in like 30 hours a few years back to get my feet wet when i was trying to move up to 1/2, but i was pretty bad back then.
then i put in maybe 50 hours a year and a half ago at 25/50, but i wasnt really ready to play those stakes. then i put in a bunch of time early this year looking into hands, reading rolf slotbooms book and thinking about the game. then i played maybe 50 more hours worth on my own and shortstacked another 25 splitting action. all in all i dont have tons and tons of plo experience but ive put in a good amount of time reading, playing and thinking about the game. it took quite a bit of effort for me to get competent and develop my own style (which is very very different from most people)

Would you get fired if i could find the chat log where you describe FTP as a 'stupid cartoon site you hate playing on'?

Does BJJ still make you throw up after training?

If you could invite one person from LP who wasn't in vegas to come to the LP castle and get waterballooned, who would it be?

In 2009, who will do well on the live mtt scene from LP that hasn't already?

no, not important. mixed games arent popular, if you look at what runs theres a jump from like 10/20 to 100/200 and 200/400, then a jump to 1k/2k. dont worry about getting good at them its not worth your time

my favorite elky story was something he told me the first time he met me. it would probably be the worst and most boring story coming from anyone else but elky made it awesome.

it went something like this:
zo i waz playing zee blackjack and i bet 1k on zee black and lost, wtf so seeeeek.
so zen i bet 2k on zee black and i lost again wtf so seeeek.
so zen i bet 4k on zee black and i lost again, OMG WTF SO SEEK HAVE TO WIN SOMETIME.
so zen i bet 8k on zee black and i lose again, seeek life i run so bad.
so zen i bet 16k on zee black and i lose again, omg so seeek i have no more money now wtf so seek

one time raszi and i were taking a taxi from the rio to the wynn, and the cab driver asked what our occupation was, raszi told him we were professional craps players, and raszi practiced in the alley all the time where he also slings crackrock, and how if he loses his bankroll hes going to start a business in america called STOMP THAT HO where he brings over eastern european hookers that guys can stomp on for fun. the cabbie believed at least 60% of what raszi was saying.

the advice given is usually pretty decent, but people seem a little closed minded and usually slightly off the best play possible. but it seems like everyone has a good idea of what theyre doing, they just dont put most stuff into practice well, are slightly off in some areas and seem a little too set in their ways. poker is a fluid monster that is always changing and you need to stay ahead of what everyone else is doing and constantly change/upgrade your game and not get stuck in doing the same old thing

Do you think you'll still be playing poker in 5 and 10 years?
What do you think is more profitable (money wise) cashgames or tournaments? It's not uncommon for mid stakes cashgame players go take random tourney stabs and win them, but for every person that suceeds there's obviously hundrerds that fail. In terms of $$/hour (in the longrun) which do you think is more profitable?

lol sean is such a fucking hero, of course i remember

biggest fear is probably someday not enjoying my life. i just want to be happy and enjoy what i do and if i was unhappy or depressed thats a scary thought.

favorite live story is one from rekrul where some old dude was facing an over potbet on the flop, had a flush draw, tipped a waitress 500 bucks so his stack was shorter and he had odds to call.

pizza is delicious and def tastier but i prefer eating sub sandwiches more often

ill be playing poker as long as poker is profitable and a lot of people are playing.

i think cash games are more profitable overall but i think the best tournaments are worth playing (1ks, sundays, good 100 and 200 rebuys during the week)

hmm, hard alcohol, 2 friends and i killed a fifth of grey goose, then a handle of rum then started on a bottle of tequila before we ere puking.

for discipline just relax, dont get mad when bad things happen and try to enjoy playing and play every hand as well as you can.

if i am unmotivated to play i usually take some time off. i play when i want to and dont when i feel like doing other stuff

i dont really tilt but if i lose like 6 buyins i stop my session cause by that point im kinda dreary and tired and dont feel like playing. i get a little angry sometimes during a session but after the session ends i dont care anymore. another plus for playing low stakes, whatever i play has no effect on my net worth.

i like playing 2-3 hour sessions the best. longest ill play cash games is like 5 or so.

blair is about 75% of the stud he claims to be. blakes sister brought him up from 30%

smoking is fun but feel like shit when i do it. try not to more than once every couple months now.

i think smoking hurts your ability to play your best but allows you to stay calm and play long hours so its probably a plus for tournament players who play long hours but bad for cash game players who need to stay sharp

tough question....i seriously like all of them and could make an argument for almost every one of them being my favorite.

if he wasnt so new id say anbessa cause he is the easiest person of all time to deal with and is so nice. but he hasnt been around very long so id say of the people i currently back (so martine doesnt count) my overall favorite is roothlus cause hes very active, i have his online action, hes consistent, has been running well and is really easy to deal with.

its not someones fault when they run bad, especially in something highly volatile like tourneys and i obv dont blame the player when it happens but when someone runs good they get special manlove. i was tempted to say ajkhoosier because hes made me rich, but rooth has a better state of mind when he loses, plays more live and i still have his online action so manlove <3

Where do you live right now(who with, what kinda house ect)?
Do you own multiple properties? Do you plan on buying soon while the market is good.
If you could own homes in 3 diff places in the US where would they be?

Every time i talked to u or saw u at any of the events during the WSOP u looked very awake and ready for work.. where as i showed up late and was still sleeping on the inside.. Whats your morning routine before a tourny. Whats the secret?

Do you own a car, if so what type? If you have a good 2009 would you ever think of buying a supercar? (ferrari, lambo, aston martin ect.)
What do you think about poker players in their 20's buying 100K+ cars when they dont have more then 2mill to their name? Mainly what to do u think along the lines of +life ev, -financial smarts..

uhh kinda interesting answer to that, i wouldnt buy a 20K car if i had 22K cuz 20K car now days is nothing special, isnt gonna really improve my life more then my car right now.. but if i had like 115K i would buy a 100K car, i would ship a lambo.. only because its something i wanna fuck around with being 21 with a car like that and see what u can get outa girls.. only reason i would do that tho is because i dont need a house right now and i dont have anything else to spend it on.. i duno, it doesnt matter anyway cuz im not gonna be making 100K this year anyway... fucking poker..

i dont really go play live very often. when i play live cash its like 4 or 5 times a year. i play some at commerce in the 10/20 and 20/40 nl games. play some at bellagio in the 10/20 25/50 nl games. play some at wynn and rio as well, but like i said probably 5 sessions of live cash a year.

like alternative music the most. hm i guess for 5 songs ill just choose one by each of my favorite artists. #1 crush by garbage, videotape by radiohead, apocalypse please by muse, soma by smashing pumpkins, closer by NIN
i am not musical. i bought a guitar but never really got into it.

i listen to music while i play online, usually just let pandora play. it plays a wide variety of alternative stuff, but the most reoccuring bands seem to be radiohead, pearl jam, audioslave, stone temple pilots, the strokes, the doves, smashing pumpkins, nirvana, incubus and a few other bands. i really like it a lot.

How do you go through a downswing but not a normal one - a bad run when u always get it in right on the right spots make sick calls and still get sucked out on and it lasts over like lets say 30k hands over 15 days.Do you keep playing hard till it goes away or do u get a break 3-5days/week/month ?

P.S. [from the post above] its pretty standart that ur BB is much tighter than ur SB isnt it oO

Do you think that you're limiting your progress as a poker player by sticking to 2/4 and 3/6? Sure you might win there under comfort but in the long run wont you get more out of playing bigger games?

I dunno if you take notes on players or not, but if you do what are your favorite ones (RETARD THAT RUNS GOOD) or something like that

yes i def am not improving as much as i could be if i was 2-4 tabling higher stakes, but i am content with grinding a lot of tables for 300 an hour with no variance for now. at some point in the future ill make some effort into playing high stakes again, but for the time being im just going to grind the next few months.

i take a lot of notes and try to never write RETARD stuff unless its really true. if the guy is a reg i always always try to understand what their thought process is and the reason for the seemingly stupid play. that way i have better insight into what they are thinking about in certain spots and can make better plays

Mainly what to do u think along the lines of +life ev, -financial smarts..

fav restaurant in vegas is craftsteak. in the world wow i dont know, but my most memorable meals came at a little pasta shop across the street from the casino in san remo, italy.

i live in new jersey, in my parents house. i love my room, my comp setup everything, and my friends around here dont make a lot of money plus real estate here is unreasonable. if i were to live on my own or with people it would not be in jersey probably, which makes living at home the right decision for now. and also im on the road like 6 months a year so its not a huge deal living at home.

i plan on buying some properties next year. naz/i are thinking about getting a place in vegas next spring thatd be nice to own something there. also thinking about having a place in southern california, maybe in the oregon area cause thats just beautiful and everyone loves it, and possibly in texas in the austin area with ahh snap. havent really done anything yet though

i dont know why i always looked so relaxed. probably cause i didnt do much partying this summer and just sat by the pool doing nothing everyday. just try to get a good nights sleep and eat well. i try to get 8 hours every night no matter what and everyday i feel good and not tired.

i dont really own a car. my family has 3 cars, one is a bmw SUV from around 2004, another is a 2002 mercedes, and a 1999 mazda. i alternate driving them but usually drive the mazda. i dont really have much need for a super nice car and think its a waste of money. what is most likely is ill buy my mom a car, we'll sell the mazda and ill drive the bmw suv around. i think buyin 100k+ cars is retarded for the most part, they depreciate in value so much and i dont really give a shit what i drive

its event #2 WSOP, you have built up a good table image and a decent chip stack, but as you remember there are a million fish in that tourny, (4K ppl i think).. anyway you have a decent chip stack throughout the first half of the day, now your sitting on 50-60bbs and jon pham sits down to your right and is the chip leader of the tourny.. what do you do? Whats your plan of attack against someone that plays as reckless and fast as him + the fact he cant event be dented by anyone at the table.. but its mid day and blinds start to accelerate very fast right before dinner break and you cant really sit around all day.

i wouldnt necessarily make it to the death, but i would make it possible for people to die while playing. like when walking over the thin bar in the eliminator at the end, make it above a shark tank. and put spikes on the jousts, etc
also at the end if both people lived id be there with my thumb out asking the crowd if the loser should live or die like in gladiator. so if the guy is a warrior but lost to a huge hero, he has some chance at living

Well I first want to say this thread had inspiried me to check up on LP as I did before because of its awesomeness.

2nd off and I can't believe noone called you out on this is you choose to fight Myth over Mig I mean man....

Myth is the guy that helps everyone more then anyone else on LP without getting paid (at least from small personal exiprience with him, and impressions from forum) and hes a true hero, the fact he will give you some of his personal time without being trapped in a pantry is fucking awesome and shows how great a person he is.

Mig on the other hand is a hero aswell but It'd probably be much easier to beat him up given the fact hes gingernuts.

And the question I'd ask you is at what limit would could a person live comfortably of poker given the assumption they're 4.5-5bb/100 winners?

nono, i didnt say id choose to fight myth over mig, i said myth would WIN a fight over mig because his middle name is random.

i answered this on page 1 and i think .5/1 is the lowest limit someone could live comfortably but play a lot. if the person played on stars, including the rakeback made and the money made, if they averaged 1.2 million hands a year theyd probably make 175k ballpark.

How tight would you play?

Do you limp PPs or raise them?

id play really tight early position, shove a lot over raises in late position if it was 25bb. 60bb is like midstage of a tourney.

i would probably fold small pocket pairs unless the table is epic weak tight and lets me limp every other hand.

find wherever the money is. its best to be good at everything. it sucks that my weakest game is hu, cause i often get shorthanded on full ring tables and the regs quit and then fish join and i should work on my hu game cause i will get plenty of action from nonames, but either way get good at everything but concentrate in one main area

i dont think theres any one thing id change. if i could go back and do everything over again i would. id start in 2002 when i was just starting college. if i could give myself a 1k bankroll in 2002 with my skill level now id probably make 20 million from then til now. the games were so good forever id put a lot of energy into playing before they got tougher.

yea a lot of similarities between poker and bjj. for one theres a lot of stuff that doesnt seem natural and just takes a long time to get used to and learn the correct way. also its impossible to really learn bjj alone cause you need another body there to learn the positioning. poker is kinda similar, having friends who play and bouncing ideas off each other really really speeds up the process of getting better. there are other similarities but just the learning curve being very steep is one major similarity

i play both. i like 6max better, its more fun, but i play full ring much more cause i can play a lot more tables and its a bit easier in terms of swings and weaker players
i think its best to play 6max at the 3/6 to 25/50 level, its best to ply full ring up to 2/4 because there are a lot of games running and easy to mass table, and after 25/50 its best to become a hu plyer

i like 2/4 because the players are a little softer, i make $350 an hour there without ever having a 5k downswing and the fish are attracted to the sea of red and a lot of bad players join the games
also the 5/10 and 10/20 games are a bit tough and im sure i could beat them but the variance is pretty nutty so im just gonna grind for a while
