Hey daut~
How hard was it for you to learn PLO? (in terms of time dedicated, and how long it took to feel comfortable) |
|
| I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance, by running away from the scene of an accident. | |

Hi Daut and thank you for going into the well, here's my questions:
- How much luck do you need to win a tournament depending on the field: 500 people, 1k,2k,5k+ ?
- Do you advocate playing tight nowadays at the start and open up progressivly OR be more agressive at the beginning to build a stack fast/bust early if things don't go your way. How did you run during your PCA victory (decent, jesus christ mode, poorly ?), did you have a plan or just improvised, what was your bluffing frequency by then (i've seen your heads-up and you picked a couple of spots to run sick bluffs) ?
|
you need a lot. in a 1000 person soft field the best player will maybe win 1 out of 200 times on avg
i think you need to play selectively aggro vs most players so you pick up a lot of small pots, dont risk a lot of your stack, but also make people feel pressured that you can put in your stack with any draw or hand.
during pca i ran ok, i never sucked out on anyone (i won JJ v KK vs a shortstack once who had like 25-30% of my stack) for all my chips, i just kept getting it in good and winning. i think i only lost one all in the whole tourney. i won aa v qq twice, kk v 22, at v q8, doubled up on the river twice (trips vs overpair, set vs overpair) and aq v a9 early on day 2. i lost a flip 77 v aq sometime on day 2 but for the most part i just got it in good and won my all ins. i didnt really know much about how to play tournaments back then so i just found good spots to steal, waited for hands, didnt overcommit, etc. i didnt get aggro until it was 3 handed. |

In what form of NLHE do you think there is the most money to be made? Full ring 6-max HU etc... |
tough question. bumhunters make a looooooooot of money hu, but there are so many these days and not that many fish to go around so im not sure thats the best method until youre at 25/50 anymore.
6max there are plenty of games and the fish's money is spread to less people, and 9max you can play a ton of tables and put in tons of hands. i would say at 1/2-2/4 full ring is the best, at 3/6 to 10/20 6max is the best, 25/50 and higher hu is the best. |

it took a good amount of time. id say i put in like 30 hours a few years back to get my feet wet when i was trying to move up to 1/2, but i was pretty bad back then.
then i put in maybe 50 hours a year and a half ago at 25/50, but i wasnt really ready to play those stakes. then i put in a bunch of time early this year looking into hands, reading rolf slotbooms book and thinking about the game. then i played maybe 50 more hours worth on my own and shortstacked another 25 splitting action. all in all i dont have tons and tons of plo experience but ive put in a good amount of time reading, playing and thinking about the game. it took quite a bit of effort for me to get competent and develop my own style (which is very very different from most people) |

Daut,
Would you get fired if i could find the chat log where you describe FTP as a 'stupid cartoon site you hate playing on'?
Does BJJ still make you throw up after training?
If you could invite one person from LP who wasn't in vegas to come to the LP castle and get waterballooned, who would it be?
In 2009, who will do well on the live mtt scene from LP that hasn't already? |

How big is your edge over the 2/4 players? Are you hunting 1-2 fish on each table while trading money with other regs? |
