I started playing a higher stake than I usually do. I feel very comfortable playing there. I can see who is better than me and who I can win from. I see a lot of openings from many regulars and a lot of errors and there are an abundance of fish.

Since my opening up of the higher limit I've started to run bad. River suck-outs, etc., non-stop. Past 10 hours(about 7k hands) I've played I'm running at 8 buyins below expectation and this isn't counting the things that HEM doesn't collect (ex. someone spiking 3 outer on river then going all-in for 1 bb).

Obviously I've run much much worse than this but coupled with an attempt to move-up to a new limit it heightens everything. I think it may be effecting my play in a negative way.

Should I stick to the higher limit or move down a level to just get things on the straight and level. What have others experiences been?

If you feel comfortable with it, and your BR allows you to, stay at the limits.

i like to drop down for a session, stomp some ass, regain some confidence, then go back up

Well I still open up lower limit tables(2 levels below) if I see good ones. So I don't entirely restrict myself to a limit. I'm just wondering if I should change my PS filter to take out the highest of the 3 limits.

Hard not to dip into the platitudes here.

If you really believe you have an edge it's worth taking shots. However no matter what people say if you keep getting stomped it will start affecting your game/confidence soon. Just yesterday I think I played really good, but I kept losing and losing and losing and at one point I stopped believing I could win that day. That's when I quit.

Peace of mind cant be bought.

Versus a bad player with 2 stars. Felt he was weak on preflop call and on flop call. After I lost I thought I shoulda check-folded for like 10 minutes until I came to my senses. Doing bad is making me think stupid things.

Edited out to reflect big blinds. LOL noticed I typoed VILLAIN and copy/pasted it into every slot.

Sounds like you're getting mentally messed up which is pretty standard when losing while just moving up, no matter how well you play cause the money is doubled. IMO, even if your BR is big enough to stay up there, I'd suggest moving back to the old limit till you start running well and then jump back up. That way you don't build too many negative associations and don't start to spew at a higher limit.

I'm afraid of losing the good feelings toward poker I've been able to generate lately. Whenever I get sucked out or beat I always say nh. Two days ago I gave a sarcastic "wp" after a suckout and felt kinda like a chump afterwards for letting it get to me.

Id say move down, it can be pretty depressing even if you are comfortable with the level. I for example feel pretty comfortable at nl600 lately but when I lost 2k in one day for the first time I felt kinda pissed, so the loss does get to you at some level. You should prevent it from escalating and becoming a huge beat even at risk of grinding a lower limit for some more time. Or you could combine like 2 tables of that higher limit and keep expanding those and reducing the lower gradually like I do, it makes a smoother transition.

I'm also only down 1.5 buyin over 8.5k hands that I've played so its not like I'm losing my shirt just having stress wear away on an extremely positive attitude.

fwiw if you are who I think you are ( pretty sure you are lol) you play much much differently at the limit you are attempting to play than your previous, unless you have changed your game a fair bit since ive played with you last

however you do seem to be playing ok imo, just set a quick stop loss every sesh and grind it out

I don't think its possible to win without confidence.. even though you're only down a bit you need to have that confidence. This helped me a ton even though I am a pitiful microstakes grinder.

So if you don't have it at the moment, move down or take two days off or so?

I'm playing on another level than what I was last year. I think I'm ready for the next level of poker.

this is probably 25nl since getting stacked results in a rake of $2 , i'd say you need to practice a little more hand reading because it seems your playing on the first level which is your own 2 cards

also just because they play bad & weak dosen't mean they can't stack you
