if this kid gets to like 6'5'' and has any sort of hops he's gonna be better than kobe. dribbling is w/e. there are probably tons of kids his age who can do that certainly still impressive. shooting is interesting. he actually has a real smooth stroke. the mile is flat out ridiculous but mile times are about as correlated w/ nba potential as watching tv. will be interesting to see where he's at as a freshman in hs.

I think its very impressive he runs a mile under 5 minutes. I can run a mile under 10 but what the fuck, that means i would have to run at 12mph to beat this guy and thats just not physically possible myself.
Being able to learn how to dribble and run like Forrest Gump does not mean he will be better than Kobe. He has all the pre-requirements of becoming an outstanding player but he is still in his developing years (teenager). There are more obstacles to overcome and a shitload to prove. Trying to live up to his fathers/everyones hopes and the attention of the media is mentally demanding for a 11 year old kid no matter how well you dribble those balls. Just because he was able to shoot a basket in a shitty game doesn't mean he has the agressive nature or any other x number of qualities it takes to be excellent one day.
Just because someone looks skinny, pale and can sit behind a computer 7 hours a day does not make him/her a great poker player.

let's use some logic. i don't know this for sure but i would guess this kid is better than kobe was at this age. if this kid grows to be the same height as kobe, and has the same athletic ability as kobe there is a great chance he will be better than kobe. sure kobe is a sociopathic compulsive winner but this kid practicing this much there is always the chance he could be more of a competitor. unlike kobe who only had magic johnson and michael jordan to study this kid has them plus kobe, lebron, dwayne wade, etc. plus strength and conditioning and the like is still growing at a geometric rate plus the fact that there is more competition of guys trying to follow in the footsteps of tiger woods, kobe, lebron and doing the same thing this kid is.
not that there is a good chance this kid gets to 6'5''+ w/ a 40''+ vert or that if he did it would be possible to objectively prove who is a better player, but i think my statement was pretty reasonable.
I don't get what was so impressive in this video. He only did standard stuff. There are thousands and thousands of kids just like him, nothing i saw in this video makes him stand out. Comparing him with Kobe is ridiculously premature IMO. Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan are the Greats with a capital G. They are never going away, no matter when you start. It is always about taking the game one step further. What i want to say is, its not about having a better selection of role models. However good someone becomes you can NEVER take ANYTHING away from Jordan.
Like in Tennis for example, the game constantly evolves. Borg -> McEnroe / Connors -> Wilander/Lendl -> Sampras / Aggassi -> Federer and Nadal. If anything, upcoming kids don't have an ADVANTAGE, they have a DISADVANTAGE. The games are ridiculously hard.
Pretty common in these sports - a trend is set, others adapt, a new trend is born, others adapt. Repeat cycle.
I don't agree that "strength and conditioning and the like is still growing at a geometric rate.." The limits are being pushed very close to the point of injury,mental breakdown, failing drug tests today.
Imo one shouldn't compare Borg to Wilander to Federer because they all were the very best at the time. Borg with a wooden raquet did not have the equipment to play tennis like it is played today.

All his fancy tricks were off-court, they didn't say anything about how many points he scored in the game and even if they did it wouldn't matter because it was a shitty team they were playing against. You seriously underestimate the number of talented, hardworking young kids.
