and can someone let me in on whether or not these guys are actually playing well for most of these hands

I am not very proficient in some of these games but some of it looks pretty bad.

the hand barry gets eliminated in he is showing aces and is all in on 7th street. Scotty calls blind with his first 6 cards behind barry (and scotty has no low yet). He could have looked down at his 7th card before calling TO EVEN SEE IF HE HAD A CHANCE.

i remember reading the 2+2 thread is it went down rooting for scotty but jesus this is pretty bad.

i was about to makle a thread about this. scotty showed no class and really seems like a true asshole. just cuz demichele may have done some stupid shit doesnt mean u gotta lower urself to it. i really respect erik lindgren throughout the whole thing. that last stud8 hand they showed where scotty rivered the K was just SO awful(I THINK). on top of the fact he had NO low draw and a pair that was losing to JUST demichele's 9's face up, he calls anyways, then slowrolls him. watch that video, its pretty disgusting to think hes the winner of the chip reese trophy.

Scotty played pretty bad and just ran good while he was blasted to somehow win the tourney after acting like an asshole.

First he let's Lindgren stay in the tourney when he knows he has him crushed an Omaha8 with the AA and nut lo draw (I forget by now if it was a nut lo or not). Then he tried to rep trip 7s on the turn in Holdem that he never has and just dumps more chips to Lindgren who has TPJK. Then he for some reason tried to protect Lindgren's lo board in Stud8 with a bad 9 board when he thought DeMichele also caught bad, giving more chips away. The last hand was also terrible, when Scotty called down with 66 and no low draw against DeMichele's 99 + potential lo board (lmfao) and obv Scotty catches a miracle cooler.

Some pretty bad play by Scotty and he acted like a fucking drunken moron to boot. I'm glad Edawg turned on him and sided with DeMichele at the end, and I wish DeMichele would have won and shut Scotty the fuck up. I used to really like Scotty as an "ambassador of poker," now I can't fucking stand him.

Wow shaneomac, I jsut watched that video. It's like he completely forgot how much of an asshole he was being, like everything he did was perfectly right. I mean, yeah you can get DeMichele back for doing the showboating bullshit, but seriously, he got the picture and there was no need to keep acting liek a moron. God this idiot just tilts me more and more.

I also thought DeMichele played some of his Stud8 hands a little poorly, like those times he called raises in HU pots with lo draws that had very little high potential and was basically playing for his own money. Overall I think he played fine though.

yeah demichele did draw to only the low and no hi a time or two which i thought was perplexing given a FT of that caliber. also scotty was pretty bad by admission @ razz

SCOTTY NGYUEN is the biggest douchebag ever. All of his drunken antics and "babies" are just for the the camera, in reality he is a mean, dealer abusing, cock bag.

I coolered him pretty bad in the 2k at wsop this summer (AA > his KK for CL at the time I believe) and I have never felt more awkward at a poker table... the dealer was new and after the river was dealt he was taking a little long to count the pot and stack all the chips (mostly b/c we had probably 90% of the ante chips between us at the table). Scotty started cursing at the dealer saying "JUST HURRY THE FUCK UP MAN, AND SHIP HIM THE FUCKING POT". Was pretty obv. dealer was getting really embarrassed/nervous, and scotty just sat there cussing him out the whole time and giving me evil stares. Total classless fucking asshole.

Unfortunately this is the case with like 90% of the live pros.

I would like to apologize to all my fans for the disappointment I have caused in the H.O.R.S.E. Event. For that I would like to express my sincerest apology. Keep in mind this was a five day event, with an almost fourteen hour final table that was reduced to two hours of air time including all the commercial breaks. Last year's Main Event I made the mistake of letting someone get under my skin, of which overtook my mental focus of the game, and cost me my tournament along with a lot of disappointment amongst my fans and peers. Since that time, it has haunted me and even now with the mistake that I made. As a professional, you always critique yourself to make yourself better, and in doing so you have to focus on the mistakes you make, in order to improve. This year, I needed redemption of my own 2007 Main Event demons to prove to myself that no one would get to me again. This tournament was too important for me, the trophy, the fifth bracelet, and history, my head was zoned in for this event, and for that time, I forgot the fans were watching me. I said things I shouldn't have said that have disappointed you, and I apologize for my actions. All my life, there have been many many tournaments, I put all the fans first, tried to play bad hands and win to give more excitement, and I would blow my tournament, however I have never regretted it, because without all you fans there would never be a Scotty Nguyen, and I appreciate all of you every which way. This tournament I played the players game. They wanted to play a drinking game, and they couldn't win, they say they can't even beat a drunk, how can you beat a drunk if I'm not drunk. They can't beat me in a drinking game, now they play the talking game to try to get under my skin like in 2007, and I gave it right back to them and got underneath their skin, and they couldn't win. When it came down to playing a poker game, the best will win. Because they can't beat me in a drinking game, a talking game and then we played poker, of which they can't beat me, and I am the one who brought the trophy home. This event I had my mind set, I wouldn't let anything interfere between me and the bracelet and the Chip Reese trophy, and I proved that to the whole world. I can beat them at any game they want to play. And all I have to say, I hope all you fans understand what I'm trying to say. And watch the tape again. I was not the one to start anything, not even drinking or talking, they wanted to start it with me, and they got beat by me fair and square on all levels they wanted to play. All I would ever be sorry, is how the fans feel about me, I would never be sorry to beat those players. If they can't accept defeat, then stay home, crawl under their loved ones arms, don't bad mouth because you got beat by the best poker player. Another thing, I always bring joy and excitement to the poker game every time I'm on tv, and all of you know, when Scotty Nguyen is on tv, your eyes are glued on the screen. Why? Because I make it fun so you guys don't switch the channel. All these years that is all you've seen of me, and that is the real me. That proves to you, how great and nice I am, I am the real deal. One cannot be on tv all these years with the same persona if it wasn't the real deal. Even during this final table, I still took time for all the fans with a smile on my face. You have not even heard of one fan who was there that came up to me and could say that I was rude to them or out of line with them in any way. This was an issue at the table, and one I didn't take out on the fans even during that time. This was business. How many players do you know that would do that to the fans except one, the Prince of Poker, Scotty Nguyen and once again I apologize to all of you. No excuses for my behavior in that $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. final table. And I have explained to you why and how that happened. Bottom line, I only ask for you to please understand and remember that I, Scotty Nguyen, the Prince of Poker is still a human being, just like all of you. I too have good times, bad times, sad times and angry times, just like everyone else in this world, and I hope you can understand that. In my experience of berating ppl when on tilt, I won almost all sessions and they stayed for a longer time than usual.

Even if it's true what you say, which I doubt, that the fish plays longer if you berate them it's not looking at the big picture. What about all the reg donators; examples off the top of my head steve harris on stars and guy laliberte on ft. Do you seriously think that they'd keep playing if they'd be berated every time they played?

Personally I've often seen the fish berated by regs and more often than not they'll leave soon afterwards. It's one of the most annoying things that happens at the poker table. If you feel the need to berate some players at least just berate the tags or the nits.

Berating the fish makes you a total fag and I don't care if it works for Rhaegar and he's made 1000000x more than me, it's still one of the lamest things ever IMO. If you need to talk shit to get your opponents to play worse so you can win, then you should spend your time getting better at poker instead of being such a tool/jerk/lame human being.

Berating the douchebags who berate the fish though, is 100% acceptable and encouraged by me.

yeah, had position on the sickest fish ever at my table today and he just doubled up so we where 200bb deep and i was like "WOOOOA LETS ROCK!!" and then the guy he doubled up from started calling him an idiot donk and so on and he left after 2 hands and i just wanted to strangle that idiot nit reg player.

i berated a regular fish yesterday telling him how ugly his play was, i was definitelly mad but doing it LIVE on the final table is 100000 times worse

i think i lost even more respect for scotty(even tho i had none) because of what he just said during his interview in the ME coverage. he said basically that he cannot keep it inside and that sometimes hes gotta just let it out, however the entire time he was on top of his game. fuck this clown. i do respect the announcers tho, they basically said they lost tons of respect for him and bring up his bad behavior @ every chance it seems. i do like that.
