Choosing a laptop

I'm in the US right now and I'm thinking about getting a laptop. I found 2 IBMs on ebay, but there's only one difference between them: the more expensive one got Vista Ultimate instead of Vista Business in the cheaper version and the difference is $300. So here's the question: do I really need/is it worth to get the Vista Ultimate version instead of Business?

im running xp pro, bought the computer without an os for like 500 total and its got good shit

if ur in the US then just do as we do. walk into best buy, find the biggest laptop u can afford.. buy it.

theres next to no difference between business and ultimate as long as you're not doing any advanced networking/dns server stuff
you should get vista home premium and allow yourself to downgrade to xp

+1 for asus btw. warranty and customer service is so far ahead of everything else

yep, I got some accident warranty on my asus for the first year or so for free. that means I can drop it all I want

im v happy with my hp, i would avoid ebay though and get one from a store

also alienware is insanely cool because they have a little glowing alien on them

I like my dell xps alot. Only downside is that its so huge and heavy it should really be classified as a laptop

best buy and stores always only carry garbage laptops instore. when i went laptop shopping with tom the best one in best buy and fry's electronics at vegas was a piece of shit. you have to order online for decent high-end ones.

im currently looking for a laptop aswell, how is the macbook pro?
after comparing the dell xps top model and the macbook pro top model, the dell=around $2.5k AUD and the macbook pro is around 3.8k AUD
for similar specs it seems. sure the macbook pro looks hell of a lot better but i aint paying that much for just looks, and it doesnt even come with VISTA!
