if poker is dangerous to them i would rank sports betting as a Kodiak grizzly bear who smells blood after you just threw a javelin into his cub - RaiNKhAN

Wow, that was one sick opening ceremony, especially enjoyed the sick effects they pulled off with the fireworks.

anyone have any links to streams or torrents for the opening ceremonies?

I have learned from poker that being at the table is not a grind, the grind is living and poker is how I pass the time

Relative of US Olympic coach killed in Beijing

The probability of someone watching you is proportional to the stupidity of your action.

Here are some images for those of you who missed it:

I thought it was absolutely amazing. I don't recall ever being impressed by an opening ceremony and this one totally blew me away.

What do the Olympics, an international sign of peace and community that transcends the boundaries of government rule or religious bias have to do with the Chinese government, or any government for that matter? Its the biggest sporting event in the world meant to develop friendly ties or strengthen previous ones between peoples of different nations. Do you even know the definition of a fascist government? I usually don't like responding to blind ignorance because I know most of what I have written here won't pierce your silly ignorant skull, but this time its very irritating, especially when you are insulting the pride of an entire nation, one in which I happen to have been born.

Yeah sure Peachy, China is a great place where the human rights are the most respected in the world, it's common sense. I leave you with a nice article you should read to be as ignorant as me:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_the_People's_Republic_of_China

and from RSF itself: http://www.rsf.org/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=174

"Its the biggest sporting event in the world meant to develop friendly ties or strengthen previous ones between peoples of different nations"

That's why they should never hold the olympics for that matter.

And i have nothing against chinese people, i just blame the chinese government if you didn't get it yet.

Wikipedia is not a reliable source. The Chinese government is far from perfect, as all governments have their flaws. Do you think I, or the Chinese people love the government for the Cultural Revolution? How about the Tienanmen Square Student Massacres? (or do you even know what these are?) China as a country is not her government, and its full of wonderful people who want nothing more than for the Olympics to be a success. But regardless of what I have written, the Olympics is meant to be, as I had written previously, a symbol of peace and international community. To say "fuck the olympics" is pretty ridiculous. This is my last response in this argument--I often find the more I try to argue logically the more the responses piss me off (see "Anyone got any info?" thread).

edit: I see you've edited your post so I will edit mine. The second article you linked me to has correct but biased information. For example, while the Chinese Government has always had a horrible human rights record and still does, it has lessened the harshness of many unfair laws against the Tibetan people. While I also agree that Tibetans have been treated poorly and unfairly, I don't agree that the Olympics should be sabotaged and threatened with terrorist-like activities. This is one of the reasons for the heightened security measures (which the article did not mention). How else do you expect the Chinese government to protect a city full of Olympic athletes and visitors who are under threat? Even the Dali Llama has said that the issue between the Chinese Government the Tibet should be resolved in a peaceful manner, but the new leadership has only responded with violent measures thus far.

Fine, but saying "fuck the beijing olympics" doesn't exactly convey that message if you didn't get it yet.
