I'm extremely picky when it comes to games, especially nowadays as I don't keep up anymore. Games these days seem to be a little too hard to just pick up and play casually, so I'm sure when the rest of you list your full tens there's gonna be lots of games that I've just barely heard of but never played.
Anyways, from my first Commodore 64, a gazillion of consoles, to hi-tech PC's.. I can only give out three full tens. In no particular order, because I love all three games an equal amount:
Super Metroid (SNES)
Fantastic 2D adventure. Perfection, pushing the SNES to the max.
Starcraft : Brood War
I don't think any RTS will ever top this.. not in playability or in balance. Not even SC2.
Pro Evolution Soccer 6
I had to pick one game from the PES series and it had to be PES6. Pure footballing fun.
Your turn LP!

I'm usually not too fond of single player games because I prefer playing with friends or online, but one single player game that owns imo is Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay to the Xbox. It simply rocks and is actually if not the best on of the best single player games I've played. I also liked Mario Galaxy, and I play PES06 almost everyday with friends and online. A good recipe for a great night is starting out with having pizza with friends-> playing pes -> drinking and gambling at the casino getting drunk and obnoxious towards all the live suckies -> go out -.-v
I also enjoyed Halo 2... Diddy Kong Racing to n64.. Super Mario Bros 3.. hm hm

online bob is actually a pretty smart person, not at all like the creepy fucker that sits in the sofa telling me he does nasty shit to me when im asleep - pinball
Its pretty tough to try to get good games that i like these days especially for the pc which sort of makes me unhappy because i dont own a console.
COD4 is sorta extremely gay theres not that much of an edge in the game (online) especially on the larger servers where u have like grenades thrown everywhere all the time and air strikes randomly raping you.. Because of this i can't really play/enjoy it for more than like 30 minutes. They also have a serious problem with a lot of the maps which just adds to the crapshoot style game it is ; Also, HARDCORE MODE? who the fuck thought up the ability to die in like 1 hit, A+ retard.
I'd like to see a new COD game with the same old world war type style to it. God damn it, i know its OLD but its such a fucking sick formula that updating it even for graphics sake is going to be worth it. Just get some good maps/multiplayer game play going and it'll be a winner. Those are the games i've had he most enjoyment from in the last like 5-6 years or so.
Okay crysis has v.good single player (probably the best atm, altho havent tried GTA4 yete) and i've actually not tried that online (might try that in a moment actually) but generally its a pretty damn solid game single player but single player gets boring fast.
Half life 2 is decent both online and single player but once you play some of the newer games like Crysis and CoD4 it really just makes HL2 seem utterly shit and actually quite awkward/non fluent at several times during the game. Its sorta epic though and i def got satisfaction for $ out of it.
Garry's mod (mod for HL2 etc) is pretty damn good if you play the Zombie/Human server online and dont make stupid cars out of chairs or whatever. I actually play that quite a lot.
Team Fortress 2 i play rarely now but i had a lot of fun when i just started playing it and still do it from time to time with Foolsplay.
F.E.A.R i havent played in a while but i may actually pick up a copy now that i've thought about it. Its got quite a lot of skillful play
WoW just completely crushes nearly all other PC games i've played, theres like nothing like exploring new places, talking to guild members, trying to aim for new loot from raids and just trying to get a really bad ass character. Its constantly updating though which means you've just got to have the discipline to stop because you cant win It just takes up so much time though which is why i dont play it
Don't buy alone in the dark. Piece of shit game.
Some upcoming games im looking forward to are GTA4 (on PC), wrath of the lich king, sc2 and Alan Wake. I havent researched many others really but theres probably a couple decent ones in there.
if poker is dangerous to them i would rank sports betting as a Kodiak grizzly bear who smells blood after you just threw a javelin into his cub - RaiNKhAN
Starcraft, Baldur's gate 1 & 2 are the two that immediately come to mind. I also really liked Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory single player and Fallout 2 was a really awesome game as well. Those would be my picks.
There are some games that I've played online for years like Counter Strike, Delta Force 2 and Battlefield 2 and though I like em all, I can't really give them a 10/10 in terms of the actual games being good but I'd give them a 10/10 for really fun and addictive multiplayer lol.
Honourable mentions: Morrowind, F.E.A.R, HL2 and the GTA Series.

Well, they're not especially worth mentioning even tho i forgot about bioshock. Both are single player only and portal was v.short as you said..
Bioshock is good yup but i found it pretty damn boring/laborious to play actually heh=o For me it was okay and i dont regret playing it but wouldnt play it again sort of thing.
Havent played gears of war, just bought it.

cant see how anyone who got it early wouldnt have been impressed
in any case in my time ive wasted many hours on such old classics as ultima underworld, dungeon keeper,sc obv, halflife, settlers 2
anyone who didnt play fallout 2 missed a great thing also.
Next on list Diablo IIII probably not so much SCII since it'll consume a ridicilous amount of time
Also anything oldschool is awsome too street fighter II, super smash brothers, killer instinct, x-men vs street fighter, capcom vs marvel, mortal kombat etc.. most oldschool fighters are awsome

As for people who play WoW I've never really gotten it. It just seems like its an endlessly boring grind/Safari where you kill one monster at a time very slowly and almost no good items ever drop. You eventually get to play instances to search for the best gear and then what, repeat them endlessly until you get the items you want. Once you have those items you get to play repetitive games in high level battlegrounds or arena's and spam the same few skills that everyone else does with each particular class. It seems like a lot of grind for very little satisfying game-play, but I've never really been the explorer type. I much prefer just competing against other players directly most of the time.

Followed closely in 2nd by splinter cell. Had a lot of fun playing Twisted Metal 2 for ps1 as well

Shenmue 2 wasnt as good as the original - which was pretty revolutionary at its time of release. Its just a shame it never got to be the epic 9 episode (or whatever) story it was supposed to be.
The Dreamcast was the greatest console ive ever owned.
Virtua Tennis ranks up there as one of the best games ive ever played - simple and competitive with awesome graphics.
Id also rank CS 1.5 and Ultima Online - but thats for more personal reasons.

This game puts me on tilt. I bought it for the PC and its pretty horrible and i've heard the controls on the 360 arent any better.. heh=[
U can basically skip most of the parts in the game that annoy you or u get stuck on though which is a nice feature and there is some gameplay thats enjoyable to go through but killing things is such a pain (u have to use fire to kill most things apart from little critters). The dialogue and stuff is funny at points as well as the car chases but watch gameplay trailers and see if u like it.. i made a blog post about it a while ago u might want to read
edit: its not all negative and is sorta enjoyable for medium periods (especially middle-end) but i kinda skipped a bunch near the start which was a bit too tedious

Fuckers i downloaded Diablo II and i decided to play DRUID and it blows!!! its so boring i wanted something with more magic... this douchebag turns into a wolf running arround the the Vine does all the job.
Around two years ago a friend of mine gave me this game to play called Second Sight. I read some reviews and stuff and basically had to much to do and didn't touch the thing. One year later I saw my friend again and he asked if Ive ever got the chance to play this game and I said no. And he told me again that I must play the game and the graphic and stuff are STILL playable after a year.
So finally when I got back home in a few month I found the 1CD game! And ready to play it for probably 5min before I throw it out and saying this is too old and BS. Little that I know how wrong I was! The game basically sucks you in with a very very nice story line said in a very very unique way. It was one of those games that you just cant stop thinking about it. Defenetly one of the best games that had ever hit the shelves and by the far the most underrated game Ive ever seen.
So buy it now and play it and enjoy it. Even after around 3years of the release its still totally worth it.

the most enjoyable part of Diablo is the multiplayer - you can play with 7 of your buddies at the same time - also "hardcore" mode is important (once you die you are dead permanently) hardcore duels are sick

Super Smash Bros. 64, it's so much better than SSBM imo. I haven't ever played brawl but it seems like it's very similar to melee.
Perfect Dark for N64 was pretty awesome too. I liked Goldeneye a lot too and it was basically the predescesor to Perfect Dark but being able to add AIs and team up with friends in multiplayer mode vs AIs was a big thing missing from Goldeneye. All the guns having secondary modes was also a fun addition to gameplay they added in perfect dark.
Origanally Perfect Dark Zero was going to be released on Gamecube but then they changed it and it wasn't I bought a Gamecube soley for SSBM pretty much.
Anyone have reccomendations for good Gamecube games? (if they do exist that is)

I've decided that Kick Off II (Amiga 500) has to be a 10 as well.
NHL 94 comes close but I can't give it a full 10.
Same with GTA Vice City. These two games are the ones that come closest to a 10, all the other 9's are further behind.

First Fifa in 3D, kickass gameplay and so awesome to play. I loved this game. Its my favourite sport game with Thp 2
My all time bests are:
BG1 ( Unbelievable good RPG. The best of the best )
Deus EX ( this game is so so so fucking awesome, story / gameplay/ music own )
BG2 ( Story is less good than the first but still a great game )
Civilisation 2/3 ( classic ! )
Bw ( althought i never enjoyed this game in the same way. It is like a sport for me even if i suck. So it has a lot of bad moments too. like when you go 0-10 in a row 2v2 @ iccup and that you have an argument with one of your best bnet friend because of this . " ZOmfg i cant babysit your greedy macro whore zerg style ! it isnt suited to 2v2 ! Make some ling ffs ! i'm fighting 2 x 9 pool speedlings ! lol ).
+ many honorable mentions: commando, diablo 1 ( a gem that i discovered too late in 2003 and who is way better than diablo 2 for solo play ), some old doom games, Flashpoint, NFS2, and many more that i forget or that i havent played .

Oh and dont forget Dungeon Keeper 1 and Warcraft 2 and moto racer 1 / 2 !!!
Btw most of the today games are really bad compared to those classics whereas their development cost 50X more money. But nowadays kids want graphics for their 10 Ghz comp.
