Optimal number of tables?

I recently moved up from 25NL to 50NL ring and I'm having some trouble with the jump early on. I've become quite accustomed to 6 tabling with high levels of success at the lower limits. Do you think it would help my play if i downsized to 4 tables for a better read or should I add two tables to a total of 8 to give myself more premium hands? Or should I suck it up and stay with 6, hoping that this early dump is just a bad run.

I would go 16 table nit style. O no wait....I wouldn't

my strategy is that if i normally play 8 at the level i'm beating, i will only play half that for the first 5k hands or so when i move up. that way i can focus on the different nuances like betting size, etc. and also get some stats on my opponents

if you're gonna play robotic play as much as possible, if you want to play poker 4 is ok

less tables --> faster learning --> moving up limits--> more money --> more problems

If you are having trouble, then downsizing tables is def. an option... I feel the only reason to add more tables in this spot is if you have too much "fancy play" syndrome when you are 6 tabling...

As for the more general question, "what is the optimal number of tables?" it really depends on the person.

If you can sustain a winrate@8tables > 0.5 * winrate@4tables, then 8 tables is more optimal. If you can sustain a winrate@16tables > 0.25 * winrate@4tables, then 16 tables is more optimal... it all has to do with your winrate at various table numbers, and the number of hands per hour.

i 4 table when i really wanna work on my game/lazy.

depends, I win most playing two table. I don't think I ever lose money playing only two table. But then it gets quite boring and I usually bring it up to 6. Even though the winrate is not very good, I enjoy the game more which is far more important.

24 tables playing 6/6/inf stats....all the short stack regs do it
