Any one who just watched their E3 press conference most likely feels the same way I do about Nintendo. If you feel differently, you're probably gay.
I've been a loyal follower of Nintendo since the SNES days: I stuck with them as their once glorious video game empire was nearly demolished at the hands of Sony and Microsoft. I would often be upset that none of my friends had even heard or played the latest and greatest games from Nintendo on the N64 and Gamecube. But now that they've managed to climb back to the top, I couldn't despise them any more. They've completely lost touch with the gamers who supported them when no one else would. They've abandoned GOOD game design for the easy, lucrative route.
Since when was motion control an excuse for coding absolute horseshit games? Wii Music, what the fuck is up with that? Just because you're playing on a wiimote, it's no excuse for a total shambles of a game which doesn't really resemble a proper game at all. From what I could tell, all you do is mash buttons and wave your hands around and the game just vaguely interprets your motions as an 'action' and plays music for you. If a game like this was made on a traditional gamepad, and instead of waving the remote you wiggled the stick randomly while mashing buttons willy-nilly, it'd be laughed at and no one in their right mind would buy it. Seriously, what the fuck.
In a 1 hour 20 minute conference, I spent 5 minutes watching faggots smiling while playing games (not actually seeing any games). I spent 10 minutes listening to the Ninty CEO talk about a 'paradigm shift' in the market (Read: Ability to now sell total horse shit for $$$), and 15-20 minutes looking at graphs showing how the Wii and DS have sold so much better than their rivals.
Wow this is just a huge rant, but I'm sure there are some fellow poker players here who are also enthusiastic gamers who probably share my frustration and dismay at how fucking gay Nintendo are being these days. I'm not even begging for the tried and true 'big 3' games ie. Mario, Zelda, or Metroid. I'd be perfectly happy with a brand new Pikmin game or SOMETHING that resembles a FUN fucking GAME to play. Something that can't be done in real life, and that uses the Wii Mote in a SMART way.
I can pick up a fucking music instrument, go outside and play sport, or hell I can even play Guitar Hero and have a way better musical game experience than with fucking Wii Music. Seriously I'll just randmoly mash my keyboard now ej;lfkwafewa;fjewfe;ajflwafeas;jlk and wii music would interpret that as playing a song. Now I'll pick my keyboard up and strum it like a guitar while listening to some Metallica, kmLKhu;l/mjk'kihn ';j;olm j;m,0o[p,llo./; k, p,p mk mj mj ml km, WOW I basically just experienced what it's like to play Wii Music, and I heard something cooler than I'd hear if I actually was playing Wii Music.

I don't understand your post at all. I think the Wii is great and has some awesome titles. The vast majority of game titles on all consoles aren't very good. There are a few games however that excel and become classics that everyone enjoys. This is completely normal. It's the same as how there are a whole bunch of average/good films that come out every year but only a few great ones.

sorry if I come across sounding as a pure Nintendo loyalist, this isn't true. I own PS2 xbox, I own a 360 and I'll get a PS3 in the future too. The merit of Nintendo consoles were the awesome 1st party games they make. The first year of Wii was fantastic, they released Zelda, Metroid, and Mario was released not too long ago as well. Mario Kart and SSB:B are also excellent recent additions. But looking at last years E3 conference, the "big" announcement was Wii Fit. That doesn't target my demographic at all. That was the warning sign in my mind that Nintendo are pretty much throwing us on the scrap heap, and are going to forget about us. And this years E3 conference? Wow, abysmal. While Wii Fit isn't a traditional game, it at least appears somewhat challenging and fun to play. But Wii Music? Come on, what the fuck is that? Liek I said, motion based controls is no excuse for making a terrible game, and Wii Music is just total garbage. Everythign else they showed was pretty terrible too, Animal Crossing is basically the same its always been except now with a microphone. WOW, a microphone, something that's been around for ages on XBox and PC gaming. Reggie and Iwata spent about 10 minutes talking about some stupid paradigm shift (read: selling shit to clueless customers) and how they have to continually stay ahead of the competition. Then they unveil Wii Sports 2. Disgraceful, throwing frisbees at a dog is bullshit, the only fun thing shown was sword dueling. Already they're falling into the sequel fest to churn out cash (refer to Mario Party, it was only fun the first time). With Nintendo seemingly no longer making their awesome 1st party games, they're setting a precedent for 3rd parties to also create rubbish titles.
nintendo could make sick money if they made a MMORPG or something like that with gay koopas and shit

Ket, where the masses go does not reflect the quality of the gaming system. This is shown historically, and it shows now. Sony basically won their popularity contest over Nintendo because 1. Nintendo were arrogant to 3rd parties and charging huge royalty fees for developing games on their cartridges, 2. Sony PlayStation was a CD based console, making it far more attractive to 3rd parties to develop for in terms of cost and storage capacity and 3. CDs are easily pirated, hence the masses happily buy a console which you can chip and have unlimited access to games for $1 each.
Now, what happened here was that Nintendo's games NEVER lost their quality: All throughout the N64 and Gamecube years, Nintendo 1st party games were incredibly playable, fun, and well-made. The only reason Nintendo lost these N64vsPS and GCNvsPS2 wars was because they lacked the game volume supplied by 3rd parties (90% of which are terrible games anyway), and hence all of the big-name developers such as Capcom, Konami, Square, Enix etc. all moved their previously Nintendo based franchises over to Sony. The key thing to realise here is, Sony themselves never really developed any stunning 1st party games. All they had going for them was a good install base among the masses (as previously mentioned not due to their own merit, but to Nintendo's stubbornness regarding 3rd party developers, the ease of piracy of their games, and the fact the ps2 doubled as a DVD player when the technology was new).
People like me how ever did purchase the N64 and GCN. We supported Nintendo even though the casual masses had abandoned them. We endured the drought of games on their systems, because the inevitability of receiving a good quality game for our wait was well worth it. How ever, it just wasn't enough. To fill in the time (and my lust for quality games), I had no choice but to purchase a PS/PS2 so I could play games such as FF series, Castlevania and MGS (which were originally based on Nintendo consoles). Hence, my slight bias against Sony developed here: Sony's emergence onto the console scene had merely driven up the cost of gaming for me. I now have to own 2 consoles to enjoy all the games which I would have previously enjoyed on Nintendo consoles. Not only that, the success of Sony's console went on to these earlier mentioned developers creating brand new IPs such as Resident Evil and Devil May Cry, exclusive only to Sony consoles. Meanwhile, what did Sony themselves ever contribute to gaming? Gran Turismo (which I personally don't like, but I will not degrade the quality of the game because I know a good game when I see one) and God of War. They're the only 2 good franchises that I've seen Sony create in the 15 years they've been in the market.

I remember as a kid playing Mike Tyson's Punch Out on the NES and getting repeatadly pwned by Tyson for dayz....that era was Nintendo's golden age for me. Now, the majority of Nintendo's games have not appeal to me whatsoever.

I've been loyal to Nintendo since super nintendo also, but getting a gamecube was a huge mistake. I wanted it soooo badly for SSBM but I really should've gotten a PS2 or an XBOX. Gamecube just.... doesn't really have any decent games and I don't think i'd even consider buying a wii.
