Gave mine away to a friend leveling a Barb, I figured he'd be much happier about it, but I found it 10 days ago, was shit then as well lol
PoE has a very solid game design. The visuals are rough, and there are some polish missing (like, not outlining my char's body when there's cliff blocking the view..). But it's made by a much smaller team, so they work more efficiently than D3. The talent forest they have is really overwhelming though. I spent about ~2hours learning the maurader/duelist area. Not even gonna touch any other places. It's pretty cool though, since the classes are defined by the placement of where they start in the talent forest. You can basically "make your class", it's great.
It's a good game, and it captures much of what made D2 fun better. You feel powerful in that game, and many are viable. And hardcore league is more of a thrill than is a frustration and boredom. D3 is just.. you gotta be so cautious that it's boring. In PoE, you can push the boundaries of safety and play a very fun game. Elites are just threatening enough that you have to be careful, but you can still kill them fine. Ah man, they did so many things fucking right.

What do people feel are good trade offs for gear for a barb in inferno ie/ do you sacrifice 5k HP for like 200 armour an 30 res all? I realise it is char/style specific but are there certain tradeoffs that look good on paper but are shit when being used?

I use different builds depending on if i'm playing solo or team. Who's playing in my party completely changes things as well.
If you are playing solo and die too frequently I recommend using
Frenzy- Sidearm
Leap- Iron Impact
Charge- heal
Ignore pain- armor
War cry- Impunity
Revenge- Provocation
Nerves of steel
Tough as nails
Superstition
build is based on using leap/ignore pain/leap combo which gives you 15second of pure aggression. Use charge as insurance for the times revenge misses and to help survive during cool down.
If you are past act 3, using this build with tyreal makes 5velor 5seige breaker run easy as butcher run. The boss there has a huge spot to exploit. You can basically charge inside him allowing you to dodge his triple combo slaps and doing nothing but damage.
